isn't the earth pin supposed to be on top on nema outlets?
Nowhere in the NEC is there a requirement to mount receptacles upside down (ground on top), but it is common practice in some locations/fields.
Not that I’ve ever seen. I see them installed in all orientations. I don’t think there’s a specific code behind it.

they certainly make a nice bang if something metal falls on top of the two conductors, if the earth is on the bottom.
I’m p sure you have to install it so the ground pin is on the bottom so the electric outlet looks like two shocked (electrical pun) lil fellas :o :o, it’s def in the NEC somewhere about the lil jokers having to look spooked
