You get banned from Reddit if you mention this popular character from the Super Mario Bros franchise

You're viewing a single thread.
You get banned on most Lemmy communities for the same thing.
Wait really? I haven't seen that in any of the communities I frequent at all. Do you have an example of an instance host or a community list?
Jordanlund and Lemmy.world admins giving Lemmy a bad name
You can go check the mod logs. It does not
Luigi
I didn't come to lemmy for censorship of leftist views!!
Seriously though, frfr?
No not fr fr. One mod a year ago did it. They've been gone for awhile.
thanks for letting me know, i didn't say his name in the title just in case lemmy was like reddit in that respect
They are making stuff up. I can't say that it literally never happens because anyone can spin up an instance and moderate it however they want. However, I have never seen this happen.
I need to make my own lemmy instance at some point. What i'd really like to do is have only one rule: "Say whatever you want, but no gore or porn" Unfortunately when you make the rules like that, you're just asking for the Nazis to show up and spread their hateful garbage.
I had my own instance for a while, it’s no big deal and there wasn’t much bad traffic at all.
Just make another rule that says 'No Nazi Shit', then expand as necessary.

Making stuff up about a problem other people have quipped sarcastically about?
Has it gotten better? Debatable. It's simply less common now that he's out of the news cycle but I myself have been banned for posting an image of the bat signal with a Green L in it (on an account whos server closed down).
Someone literally called Luigi Mangione a hero in that thread and doesn't appear to be banned? Like I said, it can't be ruled out entirely because anyone can spin up an instance and moderate it how they wish. But some random asshole doing that on one instance that is apparently shut down is hardly a fediverse-wide problem.
It's rarer nowadays, but for a month or so during his arrest news cycle comments, in any article about health related politicians/business/CEOs etc, that mentioned him in any way were punished for 'advocating violence'
It's not automatic bot doing it, but is still a too common reason for censorship.
That was only communities moderated by one shitty mod (jordanlund) who constantly misconstrues things. A couple of communities on one instance doesn't represent lemmy as a whole.
