It looks like we're also no longer planning on federating with lemmy.ml at first. Is that the right move?
Building a website on the protocol that's designed to connect with all the other shared protocol websites and then walling yourself off because you're terrified of all your neighbors.
Cool. Normal. Very good.
hexbear predates federation support in lemmy actually.
Sure. But admins have been working for the last six months to retrofit us back onto the full platform.
there's a million practical reasons to do that besides federation. The old site had major performance issues, probably some undiscovered security flaws, etc, and a codebase that nobody was familiar with as those devs left/stepped back.
And honestly, I get why people here are interested in staying walled off. I'm in favor of federation but there are valid concerns
That's fair
We're not terrified, we just don't see the value in letting neighbor Bob, who already does this everywhere else in the neighborhood, into the yard to pull up the flowers, shit all over himself, and then lie about the dog doing it.
If we want to interact with neighbor Bob, we can just leave the yard. There is no real reason to let him in.
But we'll see how this little experiment goes.
Who is bob in this scenario?
Because it it's us someonme has been brigading without telling me and that's not okay. I wanna go on brigades too!
Bob is liberals/chuds.
That Argentina thread is cringe. The neolib in the comments is a tedious pedantic wrong mf.
The worst kind of wrong.
Is evita fash or not i like the song but i have no idea what to think about peronism.
I thought it was just pandering, not really fash.
We are starting with lemmygrad
Lemmygrad and a handful of hobby instances, which does seem like a safe start
You think that but the gunplas folks are even more bloodthirsty and disciplined than we are.
