reddit helped me by banning me for the third time.
Please don't bring that altitude to Lemmy. Be nice to other people and don't break the rules.
In my experience the people getting banned from Reddit are the ones insulting others and breaking rules
Huh? These days you can get banned for saying just about anything. I got banned from r/justiceserved the other day for commenting something slightly pro Palestine. Fucked up thing is that I posted that comment in a completely different sub.
Posting an opinion on a political hot potato like Israel-Palestine is just asking to get banned by someone. Because there's religion inextricably tied up in it, it's one of those things that short circuits rational thought in a certain sort of person.
And that should be obvious. People who say things like "fuck Israel" (fr tho, fuck the Israeli regime, but also fuck Hamas) shouldn't be surprised if some backwards dipshit - or a corporation that relies on backwards dipshits for revenue - goes nuclear on them.
It’s really difficult to believe these anecdotes. Even if they are true.
What about my anecdote seems like a lie? And why the hell would I make up such a pedestrian story?
Nothing. It wasn’t personal. Just about people making claims about bans broadly.
I’ve become desensitized to people complaining about bans. Leaving out context, having a bias, or any number of things that involves the whole story not being laid out. Including the moderation pressures the space they were banned from is under.
But yeah, nothing specific about yours. Just sentiment about people complaining about being banned in general.
I don't know. However, I have noticed a increase of hate and rudeness on lemmy and I don't like it. I think I'm part of the problem.
