I was logged out when I opened the site and, for a second, I showed as u/GarbageShoot in the upper right corner
a bug? a feature? a threat? who am i?

Same, I thought it was a websocket issue, and the devs removed that??

This has been happening to me too, very regularly; I see another user info for a split second.
The current implementation does not indeed appear to use websockets; it calls a controller every 30 seconds or so instead.
