Tankie says the T-34-85 was the most effective armored vehicle ever made. The Soviet implemented bleeding edge mass production technology and the novel concept of planned obsolescence to maximum their ability to produce effective, reliable tanks quickly and in enormous numbers. They carefully studied what made their armored vehicles effective and how long they survived in a combat environment, then tuned their production process such that the T-34-85 would perform it's role for ~6 months before failing, as the average lifespan of a tank in combat was ~2 months. This allowed them to conserve vital war resources, including labour and workerpower, that would have been wasted making a tank that could last for decades but would only survive 2 months in practice. This startling innovative breakthrough was a key feature in the Soviet's crushing victory over the Reich.
