Trauma specialist Doctors hate e-scooters
I have an acquaintance who is learning how to walk and talk again because he hit a pothole on an e-scooter. Wear your helmets, kids!
And bicycle helmets are not rated for the speed e scooters can go. You want a full face motorcycle helmet and motorcycle gloves.
I see so many teenagers screaming down the road at 40mph with no helmet and I clench up. It's stressful.
People keep saying they're dangerous but I ride one all the time. I really wish they were as well studied as bikes, where I know the helmet doesn't help that much when you're hit in a collision.
A scooter's wheels have a much smaller diameter, so they're much more susceptible to rocks and bumps than a bike.
They are also unstable without steering input, unlike bicycles, which makes them way more dangerous. I'd like to see the research.
I guess a point in the scooter's favor is that you can jump off more easily.
I guess the center of gravity is lower on the scooter too for what it's worth.
If you're moving fast, jumping off will not help much. Maybe not getting buried under the bike but not falling full speed
