I just leave you with my favorite quote of Ljdawson, made during the reddit api war:
"I don't know. I don't track shit."
He has crashlytics. That's about it.
Tbh, I don't care for open or closed source, I don't even care for free or payed. (19 bucks per year.. That's like what, a coffee and a donut at a Starbuck?)
Stuff must just work and to be honest... All available clients all work sort of.
This one does this good but sucks at multi instances. That one screws up gifs from that and this site. Made an error typing your user name!/password during setup? Tough shit. You can't edit it so redo from start, remove it and type well this time.
Sync just seems to work.
That's not to shit on anyone hard work: I can't do it, I can't make them, I'm glad these clients exist. I don't expect free tools to be perfect.
But I'm also superglad Sync for lemmy is a thing. And I will pay for it when it's out of beta.
Sync not only works. It's the smoothest App I have on my phone. The animations and transitions are just beautiful, well timed and do not stutter even a tiny bit. I wish all android apps were like Sync. I'll gladly pay whatever he charges.
It appears if a reply is voted higher than it's parent comment then it will appear above it instead of under it. Quite annoying. Hopefully it gets worked out soon.
Sync has by far the highest customization which I love, and will happily pay the $20 for the ad-free version when the kinks are worked out. Although, Jerboa is a close second, and if they put in a default comment sorting option, I might just stick with it as it's FOSS.
Thanks, that makes it a little more clear. Seems like that might be something more than comments out of order, though. At least as far as I could tell the hierarchy of post times appears correct, it's just not showing everything.
It's putting child comments that have higher upvotes above the parent comments. So it seems to be sorting strictly by upvote without taking into account hierarchy. A child comment shouldn't appear above the parent comment like it is doing.
Didn't I read the current version does not allow you to post? I feel its pretty weird to release an app in that state and still keep ads in it.
But if you are happy paying and using that, more power to you! Meanwhile I save that money and use one of the many open source clients that actually work.
Sync is fantastic, and I've used it for years. But I'll be sticking with Thunder. Its UI is close, and I'm able to contribute the things I want to change.
