A generational divide, seen in newer lawmakers’ impatience with bipartisanship and for colleagues who don’t understand new media, has emerged as one of the deepest rifts within the party.
My impression is that contrary to the headline, this isn't a young vs old thing, but a follows-the-news vs doesn't-follow-news thing
This continuing resolution codifies much of this chaos that Elon Musk is wreaking havoc on the federal government. It codifies many of those changes. It sacrifices and completely eliminates congressional authority in order to review these impulsive Trump tariffs that he's switching on and off.
And on top of that, for folks who are concerned about effectiveness in government, this Republican extreme spending bill removes all of the guardrails and all of the accountability measures to ensure that money is being spent in the way that Congress has directed for it to be spent.
This turns the federal government into a slush fund for Donald Trump and Elon Musk. It sacrifices congressional authority and it is deeply partisan.
Edit: No one should be downvoting Usernamehere for not knowing whats in the bill.
Are you a lawyer and or elected official? Have you read the bill? What is your opinion on the contents of the CR?
Im not a lawyer or elected official. No one on Lemmy is. Including you. So I refer to the official I did elect to represent me. It's their job to read the bills and act on them in my interest. AOC is doing exactly that.
You're free to read the bill at any time. It's available online. I'm not your staff secretary. If you want the nitty gritties you need to do it yourself.
