I also left near the start of the Ukraine War, people on the news mega were acting pretty weird (and still kind of do)
Yea there were a few patsocs back then
Yeah, I think we still kinda have this problem. It's most notable when something happens that is both horrible and ruinous for working-class people while also being bad for the United States on a broad level. There's a tendency to ignore the former while cheering on the latter. It's not good.
There is a huge and very justified hatred against
Comments that seem like calls for mass destruction of the USA are not really intended towards the working class people, it's mostly just a way to cope when we go over the top with it. What we really need is for the USA as an imperialist project to finally lose its power and give way to a new world free from the hard grip of the imperialists.
I agree, it's a very justified anger. Saying something like "Death to America" isn't what I'm talking about.
It's more like... responses to the Ukraine war that forget that real working people are suffering. Like, conflating those civilians with the soldiers sporting Natzi regalia. It's not, like, wildly prevalent but it's happened enough with various tragedies that I think it's important to keep in mind and try to work against.
Yeah I get that and can confirm it happens here unfortunately. I think it's because we're all too familiar with the propaganda the west tries to push about the Ukraine war and pretending like it happened purely because Russians are barbarians which a lot of simple people have also internalized and spread around while completely ignoring the western aggression that came before, so many people here take it too far in the other direction and conflate the reactionary role Ukraine has taken in many ways with the Ukrainian people as a whole.
