The SuperKitties soundtrack has absolutely no right to go as hard as it does.
The show is inane, but the music slaps.
First of all, Carmen Carter absolutely kills the vocals on SuperKitties Theme and SuperKitty Call, both hard driving 70s-ish action theme vibes. Take the xylophone solos on SuperKitty Call and inject them into my veins. My Bath, My Bubbles and Me is a goddam bop. Always In My Heart is a tearjerker that would fit in just fine on your favorite boy band album. And even the rough ones (like Cheese) are only 60 seconds long, so they're over before they can get too annoying.
Am I right, or am I just going insane because this is LITERALLY THE ONLY MUSIC I'VE BEEN ALLOWED TO LISTEN TO FOR THE LAST MONTH?

Working on our registry for the baby shower, good product advice?
Hi Dads! Hoping to be joining your ranks later this year and my wife and I are working on the registry for the shower (and just in general working on a checklist). Care to share any hot tips, product recommendations, brands, or anything of the sort?

Favorite Bluey Episode
Alright Dad's, what's your favorite Bluey Episode? Mine is S03 E18 - "Rain".
It's the only episode to have basically no dialogue. When my daughter and I sit down and binge watch Bluey on Saturday mornings, I often start with that episode.

Baby number 2 sleeping peacefully
Hospital was having all kinds of problems today but the c section went smooth, the parade of family visiting is done, mom and baby are down for the count. Very happy to be scrunched up on this uncomfortable ass hospital chair

New bridle
One of my daughter's "uncles" decided to spoil her with a big stuffed unicorn. Here it is with its new bridle.

Ever been changing a diaper and thought: I wish I could smear this all over their legs and feet?
Have I got a product for you. They're called pull ups

Anybody physically more tired after vacation? Also would appreciate potty training tips
I took a week off work, and I definitely needed it. I was having micro-snaps here and there. I loved this past week with my kids but somehow I'm more tired than if I just work (my two kids are under three if that makes any difference).
Also, any advice on potty training would be great. The older one will go both in his diaper and in the toilet. He pooped in the toilet once which was a big win, but that's because I caught him about to go in his diaper. Unfortunately wife and I aren't consistently home at the same time that we can do the Donald duck route, which we did the past week but he doesn't cue us when he needs to go. I'm sure in due time things will come as this past week I'm claiming as a resounding success.
Thanks in advance!

Got the c section scheduled

wife and I had a bad session tonight and I need advice.
Usually we are good, sexwise, bit's becoming apparent something is off this year. She thinks the issue is poor health which is probably a component, especially in past sessions but tonight I was getting increasingly frustrated and just didn't speak up. I don't know where to turn to for advice on this. Essentially I was doing all the work, I had two tuga on me and that was it, I was on top first and she was literally just laying there. Hardly making a sound. After that she told me she wanted to be on top so we switched and she was dry and I started to instantly deflate. The culmination of it all just sucks. When I expressed how I felt like she wasn't really reacting and enthusiastic, she lashed out at me and said it's because of my health.
I dont know, maybe she's right but I just was not getting the right vibes and I was feeling increasingly frustrated. How do I approach this better?

I'm trying to convince my wife to come over to lemmy but want to fulfill her community wants.
Does anybody know any communities for mums or parents in general?

How was your Father's Day?
Mine was mostly pretty low-key, which is how I like it. I got some small gifts from my wife and daughter, including a 7oz hammer with a colorfully painted handle. I actually really liked that. For dinner my mother-in-law took us out to an expensive steakhouse, where I had a wonderful ribeye, but I don't think it was worth the price. I'm grateful and appreciative, but I think it was a little too much. I think that she and/or my father-in-law had a gift card, so it made sense for them. Besides all that, I somehow hardly had to put up with any complaints, even from my ever opinionated four-year-old.
I would have enjoyed the day a lot more if I didn't have to worry about work today.

Dealing with Father's day as a co-parent
Just thought I'd throw this out there to see how single father's are dealing with Father's day as a co-parent.
I didn't get to see my daughter today because it wasn't my weekend. I could've changed but I don't like changing up the schedule with my ex. My daughter will have something made for me from daycare and I'll get it from her next weekend. Father's day has never been a big deal for me, even less since my father passed a few years ago. It's been just another normal day for me.
Feel free to share your experiences of how Father's day went for you.

What is the best kid's TV show? And why is it Bluey?
PS The rest of Bluey S3 is coming to Disney+ July 12th!

Can we get a three day weekend ffs?
If we really cared about mothers and fathers then their respective Days would be paid holidays; three-day weekends. Enough with this commemorative Sunday bs.

"WHYYYYY!?"
My kid just ran into the corner of the bed and gave herself a charlie horse. She started screaming and shouting "why!?" like Nancy Kerrigan and my wife and I just had to laugh. Anyone else ever think it's kind of funny when your kid does something like that?
Our daughter is fine, btw.

What alternate lyrics do you sing to kid songs?

Me: Literally anything. Almost 2 year old daughter:
No.
But seriously... She's so much fun now but everything is a quick and stern "No". Sometimes I hit the jackpot and ask her something that she actually wants and it's "Yayeeeah".

What's the Tooth Fairy's going rate these days?
My little one isn't even teething yet, but my wife and I were talking the other day about what we used to get from the Tooth Fairy when we were kids.
Has the Tooth Fairy kept up with inflation?
What are your little ones finding under their pillows?

10-year old lost her last baby tooth and I'm a mess.
My wife writes little "notes from the tooth fairy" and swaps them for the tooth while she's asleep. I get the pleasure of proofreading the notes but this one broke me last night.

Tantrum free weekend
I just need to brag that my 3 and a half year old didn't throw a single tantrum this weekend. About 5 months ago he decided he doesn't want to nap anymore(this makes bedtime way easier but I lose my 2 hours of free time in the afternoon), so now he throws tantrums when he's tired but he refuses to nap regardless. So we kept busy all weekend and I was worried he'd get overwhelmed but he had a blast and didn't lose his shit about anything.
Saturday we went to this event called meet a machine where there's a ton of different types of huge trucks and other machinery kids can go check out and go inside. Then we went to the splash pad to cool off.
Today we went haskap berry picking and he loved it, getting so excited every time he found one and got to put it in the basket. We then went to my brother in law's for lunch and he got to play with his cousins for a while. When we got home he watched me make jam out of the berries.
It was exhausting being so busy but it was a good weekend.

Complaining
How do you all deal with complaining? Usually, I try to fix the problem, if there really is one, or deflect with humor. However, sometimes the complaining comes from all directions—my kid, my wife, my parents, my bosses, customers—and it wears me down. I find that pushing back can sometimes be counterproductive with some complainers.
One time my wife had some complaint about how I mow the lawn. I asked her if she ever mowed a lawn and she was quiet after that. Unfortunately, these little victories don't happen very often. What sorts of tricks or tactics should I have ready to get people to pound sand without telling them to pound sand?

First time on a proper two-wheeler with pedals and without training wheels!
No injuries and we even had a couple of good runs where I wasn't holding on. A few more weekends and I think we've got this.

Birthday party at McDonalds Play Place
Took my one kid to a birthday party that was at a McDonald's Play Place. It was much more organized (in large part thanks to the staff) than anticipated and so far one of the better pre-K parties I've been to.
It was still easy to get overstimulated but went surprisingly well!
