  • I think its pretty simple; with climate change and pollution comes environmental collapse and starvation. Clean water, food and other ressources will become even harder to obtain. Desperate people will be more likely to turn to exremism and civil unrest will increase. Our politicians know this and are trying to get into a position where they can stay in power and not be eaten. Obviously with hindsight it would probably have been better for everyone involved if we had taken the necessary steps to protect our climate and ecosystems a few centuries ago, but that doesnt get you elected and doesnt matter to you if you are going to rule just for the next 5 years or so.

  • so like, is the guy supposed to have them transplanted? or have them somewhere in a jar floating in formaldehyde?

  • What the hell are hunter eyes? all humans have eyes selected for hunting. Sure a guy with eyes sitting on the sides of his skull would look weird but are there even any genectic defects that could cause this?

  • there is no ranging and the mechanics are pretty simple: if its pointed at you (doesnt matter where you or the gaydar are positioned in space) it will return a signal, if pointed somewhere else there wont be a signal.

  • Well I certainly dont hate them, but I often felt like they where written just for shock value to gain attention and make the books more popular.

  • Does Neil happen to be a conservative politician?

  • I would never position myself under a glass of water, let alone raise my chin. I drink my water in the straightest way possible, from a long hard thick moist straw like a real man.

  • Depending on what you count as industrialization you can put basically every country that ever industrialized ever in a 40 to 50 year time frame. Obviously early adopter like the UK took a bit longer while later adopters like the UDSSR, China or Japan for example could learn from the others and be faster. How does this have to do anything with communism?

  • The only other books Ive read from him are the Inhibitor cycle and medusa chronicles and while yes inhibitor cycle features archeaology I wasnt aware that he may have more of what Im looking for. Thanks

Why don't we just use AI to predict crimes?

  • Shitty Ask Lemmy @lemmy.ml

How can they claim that history is written by the victors when there are clearly way more historians named differently?
