  • there's 90 days window he can do however he wants and tank the market

  • I heard the French have a solution for this

  • I don't, but yes this is very blatant

  • That's M$ intention, to hide some settings from users and lose control of Windows.

  • Just like me, I also grew up with Windows XP and still playing Master of Orion on Linux today.

  • Mander is not the only instance having this issue. Other instances like lemmy.nz (it was), reddthat also aussie.zone, monyet.cc have similar issue since months ago. I assume the culprit is cogent's de-peering drama not from lemmy itself.

And those lemmy instances are hosted in APAC.

Also you can check federation issue with this

    https://phiresky.github.io/lemmy-federation-state/site?domain=lemmy.world

And if I'm not mistaken our admin has solution regarding the issue a while ago, you may ask Dave.

  • I'm not sure this can be done more easily without root access as many Android services and Gapps are intertwined.

You can try this solution via ADB, this is just an example

    pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.app

As for SMS app, I use QKSMS

I just saw this, it's available on f-droid and play store

Deku SMS is an Android SMS app.

Deku SMS is being developed as a proof-of-concept for secure SMS messaging, SMS image transmission and SMS-Cloud communications.

  • You are not really wrong, TPM was designed by Trusted Computing Group consisting of big tech companies like M$, IBM, AMD, Intel, Cisco and HP.

  • fTPM has a bug, don't know if it's fixed

Veracrypt also doesn't recommend using encryption that relies on TPMs

Some encryption programs use TPM to prevent attacks. Will VeraCrypt use it too? No. Those programs use TPM to protect against attacks that require the attacker to have administrator privileges, or physical access to the computer, and the attacker needs you to use the computer after such an access. However, if any of these conditions is met, it is actually impossible to secure the computer (see below) and, therefore, you must stop using it (instead of relying on TPM).

If the attacker has administrator privileges, he can, for example, reset the TPM, capture the content of RAM (containing master keys) or content of files stored on mounted VeraCrypt volumes (decrypted on the fly), which can then be sent to the attacker over the Internet or saved to an unencrypted local drive (from which the attacker might be able to read it later, when he gains physical access to the computer).

Let's assume the attackers were law enforcers

  • I do agree with you, the obstacle is that there are many applications that are not available on Linux or they're not as powerful as on Windows. As for me is MS. Excel, many of my office clients use VBA in Excel spreadsheet to do calculations.

  • And remember that your data and telemetry are sent to Microsoft servers to train Copilot AI. You may also need to subscribe to some advanced AI features

  • Yes, AI PC like in the movie HER

  • Greedy, this is literally

You buy digital items but you don't own them

You'll own nothing and you'll be happy

  • Someone said -45.5 °C

  • I'm not so surprised

  • It's time for you start to using LibreWolf (uBlock Origin pre-installed)

  • Removed

  • Anyone know of some good alternative news communities? I’m happy to switch over asap.

Beehaw.org but its server is based in the US, and lemmy.ml but you know..

  • I don't like the idea of other people curating my feed.

I'll leave fediverse, so many instances in the fediverse are still federated with Threads
