Switched to Vivaldi. Awesome browser on all plattforms IMO.
Switched to Proton Mail, and feel good about it. Why is Proton bad?
And Big Win: I now host my own Nextcloud, Kalender and paperless-ngx. Highly recommend these, from a usability point of view. Can't say much about the technical or security perspective.
“Unwarranted intervention” is pretty convenient when you own the platform and write all the rules to unfairly benefit yourself. Android/Playstore is not a neutral marketplace under those conditions. Non-intervention is not neutral either. It locks in default power and keeps competitors at a disadvantage.
So the only sensible option is to regulate the heck out of big tech.
First of all, I'd say we're on the same side. Israel is acting like a disgusting piece of shit. Also, many Israelis are abusing the term "antisemitic" to discredit people that they dont like. But I think we still need to differentiate. Therefore let me answer your question:
If the vanalism is against Israeli officials/buildings/state institutions, thats fine! Like ambassies, consulates, (international) representatives, politicians, economic figures, IDF members, etc... They are waging war and genocide, they deserve our anger + protest.
But If it hits religious institutions, private folks, jewish communities, holocaust memorials, etc. with no Israeli state background or links to the IDF, then maybe dont attack them, because otherwise it really is nothing but antisemitism. And that's the point. If it was really only about the state of Israel, then why do so many "protests" explicitly target Jewish religious institutions (like synagogues, cemeteries, schools) rather than Israeli ones? It is not even rare thing to happen, thats why I wonder why you are asking. Examples:
Moldova, Kasauti. A Holocaust memorial was vandalized with 'free Palestine' graffiti.
Ukraine, Uman. A swastika was painted on a Jewish café.
UK, Glasgow. “Free Palestine” and “Fuck the no really Jews” were painted on a wall.
Italy, Milan. A man shouted “murderers” in front of a Jewish nursing home.
Italy, Milan. An elderly Jewish man, wearing a hat with a Star of David, was walking his dog, when a man tore off his hat, trampled it, and called the elderly man “dirty Jew.”
Italy, Milan. An Orthodox Jewish man was insulted on his way to a synagogue by an Italian couple who said to him, “F—king Zionist! You kill children!” On his way home he was shoved by a young man who shouted antisemitic epithets at him.
Germany, Oldenburg. An incendiary device was thrown at the door of the Oldenburg synagogue.
Belgium, Fleron. The home of Belgian Holocaust survivors was vandalized with “Gaza Free” and a swastika.
Munich, Germany. A man stood in front of the main synagogue, shouted antisemitic insults and give Hitler salutes.
Montevideo, Uruguay. A doll depicting a Jewish women with a Star of David and a spear piercing her forehead was displayed during a march for International Women's Day.
Paris, France. A man wearing a kippah was attacked as he left a synagogue.
Babenhausen, Germany. A Jewish memorial column was smeared with paint.
Geneva, Switzerland. “Exterminate the Jews” and “Death to Zionists” graffiti were found in Geneva after a pro-Palestinian rally.
Additional note: Your framing is somewhat binary, relying on a “if you’re not with me, you’re against me” logic. I understand the emotions that come with this topic, but your logic reduces complex positions to two options despite the existence of intermediate views. Nuanced actors might then be pushed into opposing camps, therefore intensifying conflict.
Edit, for context: Damned be Israel for everything they are doing right now. I am just trying to maintain some discourse quality.
Restricting certain forms of speech can be interpreted in two ways: As suppression of legitimate political critique. Or as boundary-setting to prevent generalizations or escalation.
Whether specific political positions are restricted depends not on how you see them, but on how moderators classify them. “Anti-Zionism” is not a single, defined category. It ranges from policy criticism against Israel, to positions that some moderators may interpret as targeting jews.
Your ID identifies you as Australian, mate. Afaik public hospitals are free / publicly funded in Australia, just as it should be. But that's unfortunately not true for everyone.
Came here for that answer. Large concentrations of wealth generate structural power that can distort political decisions and markets in a way that serves to perpetuate itself. This creates a virtuous circle in which capital shapes return conditions / regulation / access advantages in such a way as to systematically favour further capital growth.
Few people do know that student loans are based on mechanisms similar to that of the karma system. High debt at death = rebirth as a lower life form. In truth, that is also the reason why there are no more dinosaurs. They have all degenerated into todays chickens.
For context, in case you are not aware of the details regarding the Bundeswehr: In Germany we regularly joke about the incompetence of the BW. After WW2 the forces were deliberatly kept small. Over the years, and after the cold war, the budget was further slashed. So the already aged equipment did age further without replacement. Even maintainance cycles were streamlined to save money. It was only in the 2010s, that a report showed that hardly any motorized army vehicle is functioning, let alone ready for combat. Maybe I am a bit overly dramatic here, but Germany was basically defenseless 10 years ago. So saying that Germanys elites are continuing with their work from 80 years ago is somewhat of a stretch, and honestly made me chuckle a bit.
Of course a nations propaganda always portrays it's own military as "the good guys" or "meant for defence only". But I would carefully argue that Germany really isn't that big of an imperialist nation right now, and looking at the Bundeswehr, I highly doubt that we will build an empire anytime soon.
"Fighting all of NATO" - as a German, I did not know that I was at war with Russia right now. Am I?
I get your anger towards the US. And probably towards the EU. Towards NATO as a whole. Our history is stained with imperialism, and we should all be working against that. Dont falsely assume that I am on the side of the empire.
But this does not necessarily make Russia (or China) some sort of safe haven. Some days ago, I had to argue with US nazis that the US and Russia are the only working democracies left in this world, and Europe is a "autocratic dictatoraship" - which is obviously BS. Our system is FAR from perfect, and we experience propaganda - as does nearly every other state. But Russia, China, and the US are definitly broken systems, and ALL of them are imperialistic. So are you telling me that you are against evil NATO empire, therefore you are rooting for the evil Russian empire?
RU is burning its demographic future for marginal territorial gains. It is spending lives and capital faster than it can regenerate them.
Its economy becomes more and more war-dependent, which means peace itself becomes destabilizing.
The brain drain Putins war causes is not a temporary inconvenience, but a strategic wound. They really traded long-term modernization for short-term militarization.
It has pushed Europe into rearmament and made the continent stronger, not weaker. And it is losing access to Western technology faster than it can replace it.
It is becoming China’s junior partner, not an independent great power.
Every year of war raises the cost of any political exit.
They may very well survive the war, but the path they chose consumed the foundations of their own power.
