  • It doesn't depend on fediverse software.

Whatever is the fediverse software, your credential will only work on your instance, your fediverse home server.

More exactly, your credentials are stored in the database of a server. If you have created an account on lemmy.world, you can't login on lemmy.zip (another server), nor mastodon.social (another server...), nor peertube.org, loops.xyz...

Because they are different server, they don't share the same database, they have their own database. Your credentials are only on lemmy.world, so other servers don't know who you are.

However, there are several technical solutions, that allow cross-platform login. They are not easy to set up :

    LADP

We could create a LADP, that's a huge database with users credentials. For example, yunohost. When you install several apps with yunohost, you don't have to create another account for each installed apps because those apps share the same database where your credentials are stored.

    OAuth

There is another method : OAuth. I guess it talks with severs but i can't explain how it works. Piefed use it for login with already existing account elsewhere as mastodon (?). We could log in to piefed with a mastodon account, or google.

  • Very cool thank a lot, we are slowly making them better :)

  • Thank for sharing, i wondered how efficient it was. :)

  • Hi, thank for the report. That's outside my skill, i can't help you but meanwhile you can provide us more detail. :)

It may be a bug. Did you subcribe to some community or post or user ? Do you have more revalant info about those posts ?

  • That's not easy but i hope the wiki is clear. If there are part unclear, you can told me where. I do my best to reach and help new users ^^

The most difficult thing is to find the css name attributed to : body text, title, buttons... if we want to change it.

To find this css name, we do a "reverse engenering " by reading the website source code.

We use the web browser (on desktop) and open web dev tool. Then inspect the element we want to change : title, text, thumbnail, vote button...

  • Oh thank, wonderful...i have lot to catchup 😅

Mmm i will create a link to this page and a minimale wiki page. I would be also great to check out the wiki of fedican :)

  • Shame for the screenshot but very cool :D

A wiki page that help with theming would be great :)

  • Thank for the explanation, it was clear. So it was an address problem :)

  • Okay, and then, once settled, i will create a nice link for the weekly post on fediverse.

I dunno, but it would be great if we could turn it into an instance agnostic link. I will use threadiverse link. :)

  • Very cool :3

but on mobile, for people who have subcribed to lot communities, they will have to scroll down a little. I think it can sit next to local/all community button :)

  • Thank anyway for your report maybe it is related to feed API. :)

  • I guess you also tried with language none and another UI ? That's outside my knowledge.

Meanwhile, you can give us detail :

    • piefed instance
    • subcribed feed
    • and the ui software : Blorp ? Photon ?

Sorry for the inconvenience, i hope someone will help you :)

  • It wilk takes some time, just stick to casual communities and once you reach a positive score it will diseapar.

    It's not easy 😔

  • Hi :)

Maybe it's the language settings. Can you go to settings, then check english ?

  • The two triangles represent your reputation.

When your comment or post are downvoted too much, it gives you a low reputation and trigger the alert.

  • That's my dream :3

  • It is still planned for 2026 ? What are the priorities for Piefed ? What steps are missing before we get there ? :)

Imo, it would be great to update the roadmap :)

  • I know PieFed shows “Attitude” (the percentage of positive vs. negative votes you cast) on profiles, which is a nice touch. But aside from that metric, it doesn’t seem to physically limit the act of downvoting

It does. When you downvote too much the ability to downvote is removed. You can't downvote post from user's profile page.

    There is some restriction.

But imo, the most important thing would be how to currate content so user can find the most revalent one. That's somerhing that vote can't achieve. We have hashtag and flairs, what's left is to expand them with search function :Include, exclude, and, or...
