  • That assumes the dealer or owner lets you. Granted that's enough for me to walk away from the sale, but generally I've not had a good track record with dealers letting me pull battery health figures as it's beyond what they understand (dealership training is very very poor) so it scares them. Owners generally are happy to provide me a print out.

  • Imposter syndrome is a hell of a drug when it comes to negotiations on salary... Lol

  • And definitely!

  • This is your way out of America's big tech nightmare. Take it. Run with it. Never give it up.

  • Yep. It's like all of his supporters remembered the first term as some mass fucking hallucination. I had entire groups of my family removed his entire term only to blame everything they were removed about on Biden within the first year of his term, refusing to acknowledge the things his administration did fix, and then blaming implementations that Trump 1.0 did on Biden saying Trump 2.0 would fix them. I thought the 2017 tax law passage couldn't be more obvious that it would cause issues due to dump, but all the gpo had to do was apply a time delay to it and suddenly all the "against" votes and dissent democrats did cast fell away to "Damn Biden raising my damn taxes. Feels like I can't afford anything due to inflation!" And it's like bro... We had a global pandemic that was so so much worse than it needed to be on our home front because Dump specifically cut the departments responsible for mitigating it before it occurred... Like how fucking stupid are people on average? Are we all just living with memory of only the past few months or what?

  • Honestly every networking company that couldn't be bothered to ship with randomized creds physically embedded/etched somewhere on the device should've probably went out of business. The cost has always been minimal and the increased security value has always been readily apparent.

  • If I were to hazard a guess, they're reusing a mobile board design for this somewhat and at least in mobile applications socketed dimms draw 30-50% more juice than soldered. It could also be the npu or gpu requiring the 5-10% extra memory bandwidth they get from being soldered. I do agree that I don't think it was worth the trade offs from a consumer perspective, but framework seems to generally make good choices so I'm thinking there must've been some outside pressure at play affecting the financials of the project or something.

  • My reponse has always been "If that's the case, why make it appear as though it's suffering to us?" And they usually respond with some level of "it's a test". Personally I think it's just a wild set of mental loopholes they engage with to justify not feeling any guilt or reverance for the creatures they are consuming but I genuinely don't know.

  • Sure, but care or not they can both certainly influence development on your favorite IP. Having the knowledge to be able to exploit this exploitive practice is not the same as supporting it or agreeing with its existence, just simple acknowledgement of your ability to influence outcomes of which in this case I'd suggest picking the one that is forever in your own personal favor.

  • "God created all for us to enjoy. Why would he instill within it the sense of self with which to suffer?" Is a paraphrased response I've received when posing this question to a few friends.

  • Specifically the ones they're most abusing. 😭

  • That does unfortunately and irrefutably occur. It's not every case, but it is sadly likely a majority.

  • Can we get it to 99?!

  • There is a genuine downside, in that launch numbers are what most gaming publishers pay attention to most closely when deciding to greenlight expansions and sequels, but generally there are far more reasons to wait and know what you're getting than to take the dive early and blind.

  • I once had a legitimate and expected call circa 2014 with the SSA to discuss depositing into my bank account of a dispursement. The call came from a random Tennessee number. The first question was "what's your Social Security number?" And my response was "I don't think I'm supposed to give anyone that" and the guy legitimately laughed and went "yeah, but you need to give it to us" and that's the day I discovered our government's opsec is 💩.

  • I'd avoid mint if you have an nvidia card or newer hardware. They ship older more "stable" versions of systems packages and kernels that just make it a pain. You may try something with built in nvidia support like PopOs or Catchy.

  • 2018+ are the first years in near a century life expectancy declined in the US on average. I'm not saying that changes any of your core argument, but I have difficulty attributing the measurable decline in quality and length of life as just another day of generational change, although perhaps that is me settling into my grumpy old man arc. 😩

  • Since you clearly plan on keeping this equipment for the long-term, you may be better served by a newer lower power option that will likely be more performant for less long term cost.

  • Apple is likely big enough that the 'Apple' trademark basically extends to every business category aside from selling apples at this point. Best to just change your name and move on vs the potential legal fees imo.
