  • I'm no Friends fan either but I suggest Lisa's show The Comeback to get an understanding of what she thinks about sitcoms and how she interprets uncomfortable. It's brilliant TV.

  • Not quite, this particular paragraph was identical in the cold war era but the other paragraphs, mainly defining when it is in effect and when not, were changed. This made the law applicable since January 1st of this year. So previously this rule was only applicable during war or "conflicting times" and now it always is.

  • The Comeback S03 is out!

  • YSK that Vaseline, or petroleum jelly, is a fossil fuel derivative. It should also never be used as a lubricant with condoms, it can mess with the latex and make it break more easily.

  • Best speech I've ever heard of an FDP politician

  • I will fight to defend our rights to express ourselves, love who we want, be who we want.

The biggest and most immediate threat to these values are our governments. Implementing surveillance policies under the disguise of protecting children, while failing to bring those to justice that are actually harming them. (Epstein is the current example, the abuse in the church has been known for decades more)

Corrupt politicians are representing the ultra rich and multinationals instead of the people, funneling our tax money into their own pockets and blaming immigrants and asylum seekers when underfunded infrastructure fails. Fueling the fire that enables the political shift to the right without any regard for the consequences.

In short... the answer is NO, there is no government worth fighting for. There is no government that represents me.

  • Eating out is expensive, I would recommend at least Fr.150 per person per day for food. That should cover 2-3 meals and a coffee, sweet treat, etc.

In Europe it's normal that supermarket prices are significantly cheaper than restaurants. The people preparing our food deserve a living wage.

Sure there will be some fancy ski hut waiting for someone rich or drunk enough to shell out 100k for booze, but just because it exists doesn't mean it's the norm.

  • They MUST have free child care. And MUST send their kids to public schools. Only then will the systems be improved for everyone

  • And I've never seen fortune's work so well summarized. Conservative Debtslop should be on their cover, right next to their usual lead story of iPhone 20 Lets You Talk to Ghosts, Insider Confirms

  • Are you working for fortune's marketing department?

  • Easier said than done, but it's the only way to find peace.

Also signing people up for spam mail can give some temporary satisfaction.

  • The US have an extraordinary ability to ruin anything. Things are either capitalised or policed

  • Voting is a good reason to keep the citizenship.

In regards of taxes, if your place of residence collects more than the US would, nothing is actually owed. In the EU most (if not all) countries have much higher tax rates than the US, so the only "crime" would be the failure to file. Not sure if this is why the folks I know are getting away with this.

But generally yes, my friends are not planing to go back and much prefer paying higher taxes in return for accessible healthcare and public transport.

  • In my circle of friends none of the US Americans living abroad file their tax returns and haven't done so for many years.. especially if you're not planing to move back to the US, I really don't see the need to continue compliance with the IRS or renounce a citizenship. Keep that passport and keep voting. Throw dog shit over the embassy fence.
