Problem is, in western countries especially, tbh, our quality of life hasn't been hit all that hard. Unlike iran, where they are running out of water partly (not entirely, mismanagement is a problem there) to climate change.
I think when there's a very real danger many will go hungry due to idk, a 10 year drought (likely to happen in my country, Australia). Then, even the conservatives will no longer deny climate change. Indeed, I think it will be the centre of their agenda just like everyone else's. Combined this with their facist streak, the pessimist in me thinks that moment will not be pretty.
The optimist in me says that there has been signifcant work towards net zero. We're lucky enough we've invented the solutions (solar panels). South Australia for example is targetting 100% by the near 2027 (currently 70% according to wikipedia).
Bit of a short essay but there you go, thats my opinion
You can add your GPG keys to the thundermail client, and it just sits there locally on your computer encrypting/decrypting mail as needed. Another caveat/weakness with PGP/GPG is it relies on the sender to actually encrypt their email with your key. If they don't, of course the email will sit there in plain text.
Tbh I kiiind of do that with everyone. Well, not quite, I take what they say with a big grain of salt and just continue the conversation. A couple exceptions: they are experts in what they're talking about. Or, its some personal experience
Unfortuntely would require me riding at least 20KM to get to work in relatively dangerous conditions (could get run over lmao). But I am very much an exception, being in the country.
I can understand having a not insignificant portion of people being illiterate (due to various things such as disability, recent immigration etc.), but even 5% is crazy high. 20% is absolutely insane for college.
Then again, aren't 10 year olds expected to read small-medium novels? I can kind of understand someone scraping by on that reading level tbh.
