Digit is Digit. I love her. I knew her online from wallstreetbets and she disappeared while going through some shit. I keep needing proof she's safe.

To anyone I've ever treated unfairly, I apologize.

  • I've been banned from Facebook for years and reddit has also repeatedly banned me. Among many other bans, those are the ones that have had the most impact on my life and made me committed to censorship-resistant internet tech. I also believe the more open source tech can resist censorship, the more corporate platforms might be pressured to offer freedom of speech / unbiased enforcement in order to compete

  • You have a lot of good points here.

One of the main problems with my suggestion is the privacy issue you mentioned. Even using Tor doesn't actually come with a promise of anonymity. That would stop me from running an instance myself, even if federation over Tor works.

Enjoying PieFed overall so far, will keep investigating how it works

  • Someone get ja rule on the phone

  • This is half true at least. It's not just insane nonsense.

  • No, being able to find items for free and sell them is not the problem or what makes it gambling

  • Good to see it's not far from possible at least. Thank you.

Wanted to try Aether but download links are broken. Still looking into the others. I've said on nostr before that nostr needs some kind of bridge to SSB

  • Interesting. I'm able to see my post from that instance, but the comments seem separate.

I have not tried most of your other suggestions. I think the only one of those I've tried is SSB. Will read more about the others

  • I don't see how this relates to free speech. The targets of bigotry don't have to do anything or go anywhere because bigots are allowed to talk. If the place has free speech, that means whether you give the place to people who hate you is also a choice.

Free speech doesn't mean free corporate executive positions. If your workplace will fire you for what you say, you don't have free speech there.

  • I think nuclear power will inevitably continue to go wrong (once in a while) as long as humans use it, and it could contribute to the extinction of the planet if overused, so I hope it only goes wrong in ways that result in people not using it where it's not needed, instead of ways that result in no life surviving human impact

  • Posers

    Jump
  • Could be fluid dynamics but that's already water. Maybe they should be hydraulics and pneumatics or something

  • You are correct

Some might be more trustworthy than others though. I think Eden seems like a pretty good project run by good devs

  • We're also working on another new GitHub thing over at nostr, but with P2P seeding instead of relying on centralized git servers like GitHub. "Project Zymogen"

  • Seems like conflating correlation with causation.

Cultism is super common these days, people join cults to fit in, you get less social interaction if you're not in one.

It's not that social interaction and cult logic are inherently linked, it's just a time we're living through.

  • I've never learned to code because when I try to pick a language to learn, I find I hate every language. I hear Python is an interpreted language, so it should be less efficient than compiled languages, but today I learned PieFed is coded in Python, which made me wonder how it can be efficient enough for that.

Now, the same day, I hear there's leadership in the Python community strong enough to basically turn down bribes? I'm intrigued.

  • Liability is inevitable, so when they seemingly try to "shut it down," remember that the real goal is not only to delay it, but secretly also to shift it.

They offer people money to shield them from accountability, but later, when there is accountability, they will blackmail those same people and throw them under the bus.

If someone lets the authorities bribe them to sell out the safety of future generations, there's nothing they can say to defend themselves when the authorities later say "oh look, we found the guy that sold out the safety of future generations, what shall the punishment be?"

Be ready to help low-ranking criminals betray higher-ranking criminals, not just blindly attack whatever target is put in front of you.

  • Everyone has already suggested soulseek, so I will also add that on rare occasions I've been able to find downloads with Yandex that I couldn't find on soulseek or anywhere else.

  • I feel like science denialist cultism is a form of psychosis the vast majority of people seem to have, so measuring it every week from a few hundred thousand people is surprisingly low

  • Thank you for the direct response

  • DaVinci notebooks style science work 🔥
