  • Thanks, i'm using Voyager on Android too and thoroughly checked general settings but appearantly didn't even think to look at appearance settings, oops.

  • O there is plenty of judicial systems i'd prefer over the British one, don't get me wrong, Iran's just isn't one of them.

  • While this data is presented by a company selling apartments across the globe and the text is written to explain how much travel destinations change over the coming decades, the data in it gives a clear overview of changes in 85 different cities. Anyone living in any of those 85 cities can use it to see how fucked you might be in the near and not so near future: https://www.nestpick.com/2050-climate-change-city-index/

Little spoiler: you'll be at least a little fucked no matter where you live.

  • *should be arrested

  • Iran doesn't recognize ICJ/ICC. Best they can do there is convince countries that do recognize them to start a case. But since neither Israel nor the US recognizes them, even if they win a case it will be hard to get them to justice. Most successful cases were succesful because the perpetrator lost their political power. So as long as Iran, US and Israel support their leader it's very unlikely they will be jailed by because of an international court. Unfortunately.

  • Unrelated to topic, but i only see total up/downvotes. How do i get ratio? Switch viewer or change setting?

  • I rather have them here to be honest, or somewhere with equally little corruption and equally little political instability. They sure can raise my taxes if that keeps these 3 jailed.

  • but keep their heads down when it's a D doing it, and scream endlessly when it's an R doing the same exact thing.

And vice versa. The US is really showing the flaws of a two party system right now.

  • I'll take a Khamenei over Keir Starmer

I'd take a khamenei ruling under current day British law over keir starmer ruling under the current day judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran though. Be careful what you wish for.

  • Afaik neither Iran, not Israel, nor the US recognize the ICC nor the ICJ. Their leaders should stop removed about who committed what war crime and just go to jail already.

  • Correct grammar, no capitals - this is clearly fake news

  • But it's not the voting citizens that caused the problem, nor the voting citizens that can fix it. That should be the case, sure. We can agree to disagree, but ever since I've been to places where people are less fortunate then me (weird that imo the US counts as a third world country in that matter, yes), i stopped caring who created the problem and who should fix it. As a person from a more fair system I feel a moral obligation to not burden the individuals I encounter with the shitty position their system put them in. You are entirely free to make your decision on what is wrong and right of course.

  • The comment you replied to states "The rich will claim you’re driving them to abject poverty if you tax them into only having a million dollars."

You say people with $1.000.000 still have to work, they are not "actual rich folk". But that's not relevant to the comment you reply to, since them "having to work all day" and them still being able to be "bankrupt by medical debt" still doesn't equal the abject poverty the rich claim they'll be driven to. In other words, it doesn't matter that people with one million are not in the same position as the people with ten million, because neither would be living in abject poverty; ergo my comment.

  • They aren't paid 'regular' minimum wage which is i believe somewhere between 10-20$ in most if not all US states, but a 'tipped wage' equalling <5$ hourly in most places, though afaik laws vary greatly between states. They are special because even with tips they might not make a living wage. Not saying that everyone earning minimum earns a living wage, but their financially they are just not in an equally shitty position.

  • Playing the devils advocate here, but if everybody in the states excludes the tip when advertising prices, even showing a price with a suggested tip can make that place seem more expensive and thus less desirable. If a business is unprofitable or goes bankrupt, that will hurt the employees too.

I totally agree with your final point, but the masters in this case are also stuck in the unfair system. Sure they deserve some blame, but the true blame lies with the bigger fish: politicians, organisations and corporations big enough to lobby for laws that fuck over the small guy.

Also, patrons might not have a legal obligation, but if you're served by someone who does not get paid a living wage, you imo have a moral obligation to supplement their wage. Again, i totally agree this is not a fair system.

  • Yes i do and i totally agree with your point, just pointing at a flaw in your reasoning

  • There is no competitor, not on the same scale. There are however initiatives that matter. Platforms created by YouTube creators unhappy with YouTube policy like https://nebula.tv/ and https://www.2ndtry.tv/ ; open-source non-profit developers created PeerTube for example https://peertube.tv/ ; there are competitors in live streaming like Twitch, competitors in professional video hosting like Vimeo. Obviously that is not a one-stop shop like YouTube and a lot of those competors operate under the same laws; but the more traffic those platforms get, the more likely a creator is to (also) post there.

  • a decent size house and a car ≠ abject poverty

  • You can also learn without parents, when you all of a sudden have your hands/shopping cart/shopping bag/car full of raw egg.
