  • DJI DRONES!

You can't even avoid them because they are a monopoly. (There are "no-name" drones but these drones are very bad)

Even the 2nd place of the best drone manufacturers, Autel, their drones also has mandatory app-based internet activation.

  • I'm not sure and I don't really care. But I'm assuming its just the admin's personal dislike of lemmy.ml. Regardless, I chose this instance because of it. I'm sure there are still small number of users acting in good faith on lemmy.ml, but I just don't wanna deal with their admins' tankie influence and the higher ratio of trolls on that instance.

  • I mean, I don't care if people accidentally waste their time making mean comments that I can't see, but the problem is if .ml can still the see posts, they can downvote and I wouldn't be see those downvotes to be able to know if there's brigading.

  • 4 months?

Oh you're gonna wanna learn about the speed of court procedures.

It can take years for trials to happen.

And one jurisdictions proceedings doesn't affect the other.

Think of New York state and the US Federal government as two Sovereign nations. That's what the Sovereignty in "Dual Sovereignty" mean.

Theoretically, the Federal government could've waited for the State proceedings to finish, then file charges and arrest him again after he gets acquitted by the state courts. It wouldn't, legally speaking, violate any "speedy trial" clause (even though ethically it would). And it also doesn't violate Double Jeopardy clause, since they are considered separate "Sovereigns".

    That's legal shenanigans for ya.

  • I was in highschool at the time. I just got suspended like a week before school officially closed for covid. It was for a fight, and I was in self-defence, and the bully probably picked me to harass probably because I'm Chinese-American and probably blamed me for Covid. I got arrested, but charges were eventually dropped, after like 10 months and multiple virtual court hearings or some bullshit.

I was glad to suspended from school, I fucking hate it. I always wanted to just skip it and get a GED (its a test you take to get the equivalent of a High School Diploma). So yea, eventually, I just quit and took the GED, passed on first try, zero studying (I mean, cmon, that shits easy), the scores when converted to GPA are better than my actual GPA anyways 🤷‍♂️

At that time I researched a lot about immigration laws, and learned that the USCIS could see juvenile arrests and "convictions" (its technically called "adjundicated delinquent") within the past 5 years, and also any adult arrests and convictions. Including overturned, sealed, or even pardoned ones. Laws are so bullshit, I'm glad my mother's naturalization gave me citizenship, it'd be so bullshit to potentially get deported for a school fight.

I was always a loner, I just chilled and watched a lot of pirated Movies and TV Shows, I remember watching a lot of Youtube, particularly Jacksepticeye (very wholesome btw).

(Btw, why does this world suck so much? 😓)

  • Tbf, I hate the maximum password character limit even more.

    Like WTF even is that.

    Minumum, I get it.

    Maximum?!? 🤣 WTF LOL

I have a fucking password manager, let me use a 128 character password for fucks sake

  • 2FA is too inconvienient* and I think using a password manager to generate a very long password is good enough.

Software 2FA is not even that much more secure to be worth the inconvienience.

And for hardware 2FA keys, there is a higher chance for me to misplace those keys than getting hacked. (I don't have friends to put a backup key in and I don't wanna pay for a safe deposit box)

[*For me personally, your security needs might be different. I don't work with any sensitive classified info or anything like that.]

  • Dual Sovereignty

There are 50 State Jurisdictions and a Federal Jurisdiction.

Luigi Mangione was charged under New York State laws, he was held by a state jail/prison.

These new charges are Federal. The feds took their time because he's already in a State jail/prison, so no need to rush the charges. They can take the time to plan on making an example out of him.
