  • What is your opinion on the current state of AI/LLMs

  • It's a fun toy to play with... but ffs keep it away from actually being used irl for serious purposes... these are not trustworthy at least not in this stage, LLMs are just public beta testing...

    (Also the increse in demand in ram usage and the resulting rise in cost of consumer electronics is cringe af)

    Privacy wise... yea don't plan a revolt or confess your crimes on there, unless you have an offline LLM...

  • We are at least 3rd generation Americans, and do not have the right to claim citizenship in any other country without going through the immigration and naturalization process there.

    I read this as "We'd have to go through a lengthy bureaucratic process since we do not have citizenship claims anywhere else, so given this fact, how should we go about moving abroad?"

  • I remember when I was in China, didn't even have internet.

    My parents bought me a children's book about planets and stuff... I still remember it called 十万个为什么 (Literally: 100 Thousand Whys)

    I was so intrigued.

    I remember I had not much things to read and I kept reading that over and over again. I remember still having it when I was in 2nd grade in the US... like that's my last "artifact" of my pre-US life...

    I remember just putting it in my bookbag and bringing it to school cuz... idk why... maybe I just felt nostalgic about it and thought it'd be cool to bring a book nobody else in the school would be able to read... sort of like a special ancient text made for me xD

    Sadly the binding on that book is garbage and it fell apart and I no longer have that book...

    (I don't remember NASA being mentioned btw)

    Later I remember constantly googling space stuff once we had internet access at home...

    I think its:

    1. Childhood... like space is a big concept... so it feels like this "big thing" and I get obsessed about it... like many kids probably do. You go from being in a tiny apartment at home to suddenly knowing about very big empty space... Mind Blowing...

    2. Humanity already been on the moon... meh... not that exciting... especially not after a few decades and interests fade... like omg someone sailed across the ocean... boo boring... already done...

  • I wanted to archive every movie, tv show, anime, game, like everything...

    But that's gonna cost too many hard drives and brain capacity to do the downloading, organizing, checksums to make sure they don't get corrupted... etc... its gonna cost too much money and my sanity just to keep up with it...

    So yea I kinda gave up on it and hope there is always a copy "out there somewhere" when I need it...

    I only backup photos, writings, and that stuff, much smaller files, easier to manage...

    I remember my dad used to read newspapers, now he just scrolls WeChat...

    If both phone lockscreen and master password is the same... (8 word passphrase) and I have to enter lockscreen password every reboot... then I'd never accidentally forget the master password...

  • I have an iPhone that the carrier gave me for free as some sort of promotion thing, and I have a secondary android phone (Motorola) for using some FOSS stuff and sideloading since iPhone doesn't allow it.

    Right now I'm just remembering 2 lockscreens... but maybe I'm just gonna focus on trying to remember the main one then like put the other lockscreen into the password manager.

  • Other way around I mean.

    Like use a 8 word passphrase (not saying I use 8 words just an example) for the phone lockscreen and the master password.

    Everyday unlock is just use the biometrics so I don't have to type it, and I disable biometrics if I'm in an unsafe environment)

    Or maybe this is just paranoia... is it okay to juse use a short pin for lock screen?

    I mean I read about cellebrite and all that stuff... they say to use alphanumeric password for lockscreen to make it harder to get into...
