I know that The Matrix is a trans allegory but simulation theory isn't necessarily the same as being imprisoned in a simulation. It means we might not exist at all. Simulation goes away, we go away. Or maybe it's like The Matrix and we're all trans eggs. There's no way to know which version it is or how many people are real vs simulated.

Technically it's Foxconn that pays their wages and taxes. The comic obviously has a point though. Minus the Fairphone (overpriced for its spec and likely going to get shorter software support than any iPhone since the 5 it 5S), the options are all shit and include some form of modern slavery. I wish I could get a well-educated schoolteacher as an au pair. I can make about 3 national median salaries on my own, 4-6 if I work hard for the right clients... But doing it with a one year old at home is freaking impossible and with the stress of being unable to finish projects I'm not as active as attentive a dad as I should be either.

But au pairs aren't really a huge thing here. We're a source country for au pairs, not target. I could hire someone on a schedule basis, but that involves actually planning my work and life, very difficult with ADHD.

Interesting, here in Estonia, a housewarming party is called a salt-bread party. Some people still gift the bread and salt, but it's uncommon nowadays.
