  • This is why all cars would be better if they took the tires off and just used bare metal rims on the pavement. That might be hard to control though so maybe we should create metal grooves in the road so they can follow their tracks. And at that point we could just automate the whole thing and people wouldn't need to drive for themselves

  • Yeah. For better or worse you are correct. I used to be really feisty about this stuff back in the day, but never once have I managed to convince someone to go vegan by arguing with them.

  • In Canada we usually refer to you guys as "the States"

  • That's not what OP is saying.

So I suggest instead of having these limits be conditional school speed limits, they should just be the normal limits all the time. It wouldn’t hurt people to slow down when kids aren’t present, so just make the speed limit reduced all the time on roads around the school.

They still want to slow down. That said you are correct that this means they wouldn't need to read the sign.

  • I know that I might get downvoted for saying this, but I think the UN is right on this one. We should stop expanding this program.

The federal government has been considering expanding MAiD so that people with mental illness as their only underlying medical condition could qualify.

Am I the only one that thinks this is going too far? I thought it was generally considered a good thing that, if someone is suffering from suicide ideation, you talk them off the ledge. That's why we have suicide prevention programs, suicide hotlines, etc. This seems like a reversal of this attitude. It's saying, "oh, you're depressed, and you want to kill yourself? Okay, let's make that easier for you." This is not healthcare.

We also need to consider how this impacts marginalized communities, like for example Inuit communities in Nunavut, where suicide is considered a crisis .

  • Yes. Also, what does this have to do with shrooms and weed?

  • You put an /s there but I can think of no other explanation for why an LLM might do this

  • As far as I can tell, Signal can’t do multiple text channels in the same way discord can. Migrating a Discord ‘server’ onto a Signal chat would only work if it were a small group. Anything bigger than that would basically just give you a really big and disorganized group chat (though it would at least be a private disorganized group chat).

  • Technically in the ad it was the children’s pet. So they’ve managed to do a two-in-one and hit both demographics

  • Yeah, and not only are they recording, but they’re recording for a reason. Video files aren’t cheap, they wouldn’t be storing them unless they thought they were getting something out of it. It could be for AI model training or for targeted add or something, or both, who knows. But whatever they are using it for its still a bit unnerving to know they probably are using it for something.

  • Throughout my daily use, I noticed something peculiar. I was using my phone less and less.

You’re not the first person I’ve heard say this after installing graphene OS. Why do you think this is? Is it just because you don’t have social media apps installed?

  • Matrix is better than IRC for most uses because it can save chat history but IRC can’t

  • What's it like living there right now?

  • We also need to keep trying to diversify our trade. Even if things go back to normal the US has shown us that they are unstable economic partners

  • Not just the family, the entire community will carry this with them for life. Tumbler Ridge is not a big place. In small towns like that everybody knows everybody

  • I agree with you wholeheartedly. But in this case I one of the two trolls was spamming pornographic images, in which case I don’t think theres any issue with blocking

  • They only scan for faces of known offenders based on previous entanglements.

How does the system know who’s an offender and who isn’t without scanning their face first?

  • Try piefed, one of its main draws is that it has more tools to deal with spam

  • It’s definitely a bad look for politicians to be paid super high salaries, but it’s actually a good way to curb corruption. Because financial struggles are a major motivation for turning to bribes. If you look at high corruption countries such as Mexico, you’ll see that they pay their public servants so little that they basically have to accept bribes to make ends meet. But thats not the case here, because we pay our public servants high salaries.
