  • Honestly I wasn't thinking that deep about it. Was far more casual of a statement than this makes it out to seem. My main intention was to apologize which is what I wrote first. It's not like I wrote an opus on the injustices of a particular community or anything. It was like a five word quip. So I apologize again it came off like that to you.

  • Well it's more so a general concern but for that particular instance there was someone else in breach of the same rule I was. I messaged to apologize and just say hey, hope y'all got that other guy too kinda. Didn't seem harmful to me but if you took offense then I apologize for that as well.

  • There's not really anything to do. If I was a member of the sub I would suggest changing that and likely leave if that wasn't going to happen. Since I'm not a member there's really not much of anything to do beyond answering questions like the one you gave me.

  • Yeah but that aside I think most people enjoy or prefer fairness. Like what's the point of rules if they aren't fair, then they're more like suggestions than rules.

  • I was just offering. I'm all about rule following everywhere, not just in a particular community and breaking the rules should definitely be downvoted. Once again I'm apologizing for the human error on that comment.

  • Yeah like the example you gave is a good example of someone being off topic. It's just that I don't see that circumstance very often personally. More so i have personally seen it used in a disagreement type way, like a single sentence will be taken out of a comment and used to say the whole comment is off topic when I personally didn't feel they were as egregiously off topic like in the example you gave. So in that sense it seems subjective.. that person felt the other was off topic, I as a third party subjectivity didn't agree

  • I mean I'm mostly sorry for breaking the rules which is why I apologized, I goofed, human error gets us all from time to time. That circumstance totally makes sense and I've agreed time and time again that rule breaking deserves downvotes in this thread alone. Honestly I was thinking about other experiences I've had, particularly with some very verbally rude individuals.

  • I'm not sure that constitutes an echo chamber necessarily. Women alone obviously have very diverse opinions on topics, same for men and non-binary people. Now if there's a specific narrative and everyone agrees and any disagreement or questioning is seen as an attack then that's probably an echo chamber.
