Just a guy. Totally lost and confused, and not socially adjusted enough not to say it out loud.

Street Philosopher, Massage Therapist, Secular Exorcist, Notorious Menace, Public Enemy, and a Great Friend to some.

  • Thank you. But why would I replace fans? They work fine. It hasn't even been a decade.

Or do you mean replace as in with liquid cooling?

  • Okay. That does not answer the question. I mean, good for you, I guess.

  • I haven't been insulted like this in literal years. I did think of it. In fact, I would do it if it was possible.

You know what, I'll just rant at you, because I can.

I live with two other smokers in an apratment that is around 28 square meters. I can't convince them to smoke outside (I tried for years, actually decades). Me smoking outside would change nothing.

Just so you know, the two mentioned smokers are very upset to be mentioned here.

Smoke whatever you want wherever you want. Just don't assume everyone's situation is the same. I never asked for health advice, just tech advice. It is painful to read comments from all these self righeous pricks telling me how to live my life (no offense, your comment just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back). If I want to die from lung cancer, that is my choice. If I want to smoke inside an apartment that is already considered a "hotbox" by most standards (even without me smoking inside), then you can bet your pretty face I will.

Thank you for your imput. Hope it goes well with quiting vaping. Cheers.

  • Lol non-smokers

  • You know nothing about my situation. I can't do that. If I could I would.

  • If it was acetone I would believe it. Were you alone? Are you sure nobody drank it? Half a litre of alcohol won't evaporate in just a few minutes from a bottle. Evaporation is related to surface area and temperature. So unless it was 40 Celsius or the thing was in an open container (not bottle) then it would literally be impossible. Unless it was for several hours, but it sounds like you just left it for a couple minutes.

  • I would, but evidence seems to suggest that is not a very good idea.

  • So messing with thermal paste should be avoided. Noted. I could just re-apply it after. I'll be replacing the graphics card, so I thought I'd give the rest of the parts a cleaning. So, submerging/soaking = no, squirt bottle in strategic places = yes.

Thank you for answering the question in a comprehensive way, it is surprisingly rare, and I appreciate it very much.

  • My lungs have a self-cleaning feature, and my PC doesn't.

Feel free to roast me for my lack of tech literacy and dumb ideas, but not my health. I have calculated everything. My body will be fine for as long as it needs to be.

  • I'm mostly cleaning heat sinks, surfaces, and circuit boards. I can't reach into some spots even with a q tip, so I'm looking for alternative solutions. I'm pretty sure 10 to 15 minutes submerged in 96% alcohol wouldn't dissolve my PC like styrofoam in acetone. Although I could be wrong, I'm not an expert.

  • I think that is literally physically impossible. The strongest you can buy is 96-98%, I think. I don't even think it is possible to distill it past about 99%.

  • Why not submerge them and let the dirt dissolve? What is the danger in doing that?

  • I did not know that. Never noticed a pop up. And does this work with both search engines? You can turn off the AI features on DuckDuckGo with like two clicks, but I can't seem to find the option on Google.

    1. They got rid of that motto in 2018. And you could theoretically argue that Google was getting worse since its conception in 1998.
  • I guess. And then they removed the "Don't be evil" motto just to drive the point home.

But you have to agree, the company DID become even worse once they started using AI.

  • Good for you. I Meant as a design choice for a search engine. Why waste electricity?

  • Google became crap ever since they added AI. Microsoft became crap ever since they added AI. OpenAI started losing money the moment they started working on AI. Coincidence? I think not!

Rational people don't want Abominable Intelligence anywhere near them.

Personally, I don't mind the AI overviews, but they shouldn't show up every time you do a search. That's just a waste of energy.

  • Read my crusty tobacco-infused lips "I am not trying to sell you anything." I literally said so. And even if I did, I'm not a biochemist, just friends with a few of them. It would be easier for me (and probably for you too) to get the extract from a human pineal gland than ISRIB.

Have you tried therapy? I've heard the placebo effect is all the rage nowdays.

And by the way, you can't get into legal trouble by just discussing drugs. I could tell you how to build a bomb, and neither of us would be in legal trouble. There might be some questions, yes, some authorities knocking on some doors, but knowledge is still a free, unregulated resource (if you know where to look (kind of like mining for gold in your backyard)).

And by the by the way, supressing the stress response is not mind-expanding, it's synthetic coping. While you're at it, why don't you just go ahead and turn off other biological responses. Just turn off all of them, why not, become the perfect worker, get exploited at the cost of your human experience. Great deal. No offense, this was meant to be a hyperbolic joke. (apparently I need to specify to be understood). Not the coping part though, that's just my unfiltered opinion.

  • I don't think they make sleep depravation in pill form.

    Although...

Wait, is this a serious inquiry? Because I could give you an extensive list of mind-expanding substances I allegedly used in the past. I could even tell you a purely theoretical method of acquiring each of them, as well as the effects they have.

And just so we're clear, I am not offering to sell you non-taxable goods via the internet. It's a terrible business strategy.

You can send me a private message if you're interested in exchanging knowledge/information. I will tell you what you want to know, but in exchange I will expect the same.
