  • you hate the liberals. The progressives are pretty done with them too, to be fair. We only hitch our wagons to them because the alternative is ACTUAL fascists. I'm leftist, and I can assure you that all we want is government that actually functions as a public service and money out of politics. Becoming an elected official should be seen like jury duty, not a career move.

  • this issue is adoption. for 90% of the casuals, they get their fix from Reddit, tiktok, Instagram, Imgur and youtube. Facebook if they are boomers, and linkedin if they are corporate types. They tend to be milquetoast parrots and regurgitators who think they are so clever "observing" a take that has been so well worn it's its own ship of theseus three times over at this point. Short of the AI bubble bursting and forcing them elsewhere, I don't see that changing anytime soon, sadly.

  • This may be self serving but if someone could maybe contact Mojang and get the Minecraft instance to be an officially recognized Social Media outlet like r/Minecraft is on Reddit, that would be peachy.

  • We have ranked choice! Don't listen to the naysayers who claim it's "too confusing". Its not. Everyone should be using it. It allowed me to vote for Bernie twice, because I could put Hillary, and then Biden, in as my second choice and still get that counted. You can make protest votes without the guilt!

  • while Lemmy scratches my post reddit itch, this is one of the down sides. Everyone goes to Reddit, despite it being an AI Bot filled shit show, so you never get the same visibility. At least around here you get a better quality of poster, and you don't need to select your words quite as much.

  • as someone who started a substack recently, having the AI image generator make cover art is a nice convenience as I neither have the time to do it myself or the cash flow to hire someone. I'm not going to use stock images because then I'd get watermarks and The AI gen is slightly more professional seeming.

    There is a youtube channel that uses AI to illustrate it sci/fi fantasy narrative about a multiversal extraplanar setting called "The Archive In-between" which uses a dreamlike retro aesthetic which really fits well with AI generated imagery. Most people who are fans agree this is a FANTASTIC use for AI.

  • Reminds me of that short film where a drone mis identifies a guy going to work as a criminal and he ends up going to prison for 10 years but he ends up inadvertently getting blamed for a crime inside, so it gets bumped 25 to life instead. It does eventually get straightened out, but not before he gets shivved.

  • the first time i took Hydrocodone was after I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I slept a full 8 hours, got up, took my next dose, and then proceeded to pass out for ANOTHER full 8 hours. I put two and two together pretty quickly and just decided to deal with the pain.

  • that's kind of how it works though. The first time i took weed I was doing 12 hour shifts in kitchen work, and i noted how it didn't remove the pain, it just made me stop careing about it.
