Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I've spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.

Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.

Just don't ask who what's in the pattern buffer.

  • Not for immediate profits and plans for expansion in energy storage.

Just for general survival of the planet.

But no government actually cares about that. That's poor people problems.

  • You could almost say we have nothing to lose but our chains.

  • Well at least 9/10 is better than 3/5, if we're comparing shit sandwiches.

  • the Slate truck

one quick search and an hour of customizing later

    I need one.

It took a little skimming around the FAQ for price expectations, and "The Blank Slate is expected to be priced in the mid-twenties." which I assume will be the base "barebones no customization" version, so I'm guessing my version will probably be a solid 35k.

About 1/3 the price of the ICE truck my brother in law bought a few years ago.

Honestly if I could rig up some kind of packable solar charging setup to take on extended off-grid trips....

  • Give me a small form pickup with at least 2ft of ground clearance and physical buttons, and absolutely no connectivity to anything outside of the cab and I'm sold.

I need a 4x6 bed and the ability to load things from above and enough clearance for rough terrain, so sadly a minivan without back seats won't work.

Almost everyone I know could absolutely use a small electric vehicle with under 100mi range, since almost nobody I know travels more than 100mi/dayor needs anything other than personal, usually individual transport. The obvious solution is public transit, but we all know how much the US likes to invest in infrastructure...

  • "NOTICE

Wives choosing (insert tools here) must have a signed note from their husband"

  • Hmm I was gonna bring my safety glasses to do science, but I don't have a poster telling me if I should or not.

If only there were some form of vaguely threatening poster and woman named Carol to better instruct people!

  • It stunned the BBC announcers

Why, have they not noticed the loud shitshow the US is being?

  • Because FUCK HALF THE POPULATION FOR BEING WOMEN

  • HIDEOUS

  • But it also does the dishes without using as much water as you do.

  • But you don't UNDERSTAND!

A large company needs MORE PARKING LOTS!!!!

  • I’m starting to believe that the pizza gate stuff, QAnon, and the “trans are groomers” rhetoric were all planted in public just to muddy the waters around Epstein; to confuse people.

...... I'm just insanely disappointed in the united states as a whole, because I don't understand how anyone can be "confused" here, and yet I personally know people (and believe we all know someone) this describes perfectly.

  • I once ran a torrent for 3 years before a new version of the program came out, and I hadn't even hit 0.2 yet.

  • 7 years with my wife and we are still both learning this.

The part we both find super dumb is that both of us KNOW the other is the same way, but in the moment neither of us are thinking about that fact and we both feel bad about acting upset/angry in response.

It's the world's shittiest feedback loop.

But we are always getting better at it, I feel.

  • Actually I don’t have anymore at all. I’ve unfollowed and ignored pretty much everyone in my life over the last few years. It does suck to not have any IRL friends

Ugh, same. The few that didn't just drift apart over time showed their true colors over the years, all the way back to marriage equlity. Then there was the first trump term, the George Floyd protests, Ukraine, Palestine, second term, and now all of this....

I knew I grew up in a red state surrounded by cornfields and expected some to have differing opinions on hard-cutoff issues, but I didn't expect the people who were seeing the same things I was to straight up deny reality.

And since I've become more withdrawn in recent years, I'm basically only friends with whoever my wife is friends with and that's about it. I don't have what I would call "real" friends anymore.

  • As everyone should.

Nobody should ever be looking at the 2nd Ammendment and think to themselves "oh god I just can't wait, please lemme do it now"

It should always be "please don't make me do this", while preparing to do this.

The obvious republican mindset of "I can't wait to be allowed to legally murder people" has always been crazy to me. As a kid I heard adults round me talking about how they're "just looking for an excuse" and it very much seemed like someone who simply wanted to kill people.

That said, I have always accepted the possibility that one day I might be forced to kill in self defense or defense of others if I plan to exercise my 2nd Ammendment right. The last 15 years have been a truly eye-opening experience since I left the sheltered religious life I was raised in.

To anyone reading who is in the US, start with organizing with friends and neighbors who are like-minded and believe nobody should be kidnapped and sent to a concentration camp. I have a decent number of LGBT+ and immigrant friends , and have begun instructing some on the use of firearms. They have always been very anti-gun and for good reason, (I will not pretend the US doesn't have major issues with firearms) but now have decided since their lives very well might be on the line tomorrow they need some way of protecting themselves.

I am doing what I can in that regard, but the most effective thing is the act of organizing itself. Many of them didn't know each other. Now there's a network of people who can assist each other when something happens.

Just this week a few of us had to venture out to un-bury the front door of one of the group that is disabled and got snowed in. They lost power and only had their battery pack and a phone on low battery to call for help, and had we not been organized the way we are they very well could have been frozen by the time emergency services got around to their call. We set them up with a kerosene heater, a CO detector, and extra battery packs to keep the phone charged until power was restored.

  • A bit rude to call humans monkeys, that's extremely insulting.

Monkeys aren't dumb enough to blow themselves up.

  • If it doesn't have a tail it's not a monkey, even though it has a monkey kind of shape.
