  • If the punishment for doing nothing is death, the punishment for speaking up is death, and the punishment for acting out is death... Well what's stopping the masses from breaking out the guillotines?

Oh right, tons of us are still under the illusion of some kind of social contract being honored by all parties, and are so afraid of losing what little scraps they have they don't want to stick their heads up after seeing so many get beaten down.

I want Star Trek, not Mad Max or Water World.

But like.... Skip ww3 and the eugenics stuff... And the romulan and klingon wars...

The utopian future where energy is renewable and replicators make SCARCITY the only thing that's scarce.

  • Whether they were rigged or not doesn’t matter,

Um..... "it doesn't matter that the very thing used to elect this person wewas rigged to specifically elect this person, you still elected this person"

Think about that for a second and get back to us on the logic behind it.

  • This is not "I am an American and you should let me in" it's very much "I'm fleeing my country for political persecution please allow refugees in from this shit hole country"

Good to know nationalism, inhumane conditions, and good old fashioned concentration camps are acceptable as long as it's "hurting the right people"!

  • burn the system down

    My takeaway at least.

  • I have been filling out applications recently and one place wanted me to download a mobile app that would record camera and microphone stuff while I filled out the application

Another company wanted me to record responses on a Webcam.

  • I still have my 2005-2008 era Sony Vaiao in the garage at my parents house. If it booted up, I'd probably still have limewire running.

I need to wear a knee brace or use a cane, and I'm not even exaggerating.

  • I tried being a moderator on a forum once, and after alerting admins and the FBI about csam less than a week in, I decided I was done being a moderator.

It was a forum for RC stuff, mostly diy rc planes.

Unfortunately, therapy only helps you cope, it doesn't let you forget.

  • Even IF we are ALLOWED to vote next year and beyond, and IF we manage to pull our heads out of our asses, we will be fixing this mistake for decades.

And if we aren't allowed to vote.... Well, I hope we remember the cure for fascism soon. Actually strike that, it implies I'm willing to wait 1-3 years to find out, I want the people to remember the cure now.

I can only imagine what bullshit I'm going to hear over the next few years about why the US isn't doing well but the EU and Canada are.

  • I've had more conversations than I can count with people I would never be able to talk to in person, all using our own native languages.

The original posts are in English, people comment in their native language, and I use a translator, then respond in my own language. Is the translator perfect? No! Neither is theirs.

With the way most translators I've used work, it's easier for the non-native speaker to try translating, since the translator might try and use different words that entirely change the meaning, but likely list possible alternatives. A native e speaker will understand the alternatives while a non-native speaker probably won't.

    That's my thought process anyway.

Never had anyone who wasn't pearl-clutching or virtue-signaling complain about it. And I've had tons of conversations with people I'd never have talked to otherwise.

  • See, he ASSUMES there's "no way to win" and that this judge will always, regardless of anything else, strike down things because they're "against republicans/trump/whoever"

    Why?

Because that's exactly what they would do, are doing, plan to do in the future, and can't imagine a world where someone else isn't just as shitty as they are.

    Projection. Insecurity.

I mean, there's no way to win, but that's because this is one of those things that can't be ignored and absolutely should result in consequences. I'm not hopeful that real consequences will be had though.

  • The indomitable human spirit.

Also known as "the ability to exist out of pure spite, because FUCK YOU I ain't collapsing over THIS bullshit."

  • Current us administration: Let's close the department of education and make secondary education all but impossible.

  • Nothing says "we are a free and open community that welcomes others" like moderators banning discussion of poor moderation.

Yes, I do understand what the rule is there for. No that doesn't make it any less hilariously shitty.

  • Armada and Armada 2.

    I really like RTS games.

  • Whatever the fuck I feel like, damn.

    Nosey ass search engine...

  • I say "trap" but I don't kill anything, and they don't die.

It's just a sacrificial post I keep near the wood I want them to leave alone.

They're alive and well in their 2x4s

  • Oh don't you worry, I'm just waiting for the day she speaks directly to me about these things because I will absolutely whip out the Bible and inform her that she has no right to speak in my presence, nor is she permitted to attempt teaching.

If you're gonna bring your bigoted book into it, it's fair game for me to use too.

  • I usually have to make carpenter bee traps/lures so they leave the exposed wood around my property alone. They're going to collapse the porch at this rate.

The traps are basically just sections of 2x4 with little starter holes drilled here and there. Idk why but the chonkers seem to like those more.

So far, no traps this year.

I haven't even seen any hornets or daubers

  • There's a guy I know of who keeps bees, and while there are some people nearby who get pissy at him every time they see a bee, most people love how well all the flowers and gardens grow nearby and understand why they do.

This past year I went to someone's house nearby and their tree was blooming, but didn't look nearly as good as usual. And then I noticed I couldn't hear any bees.

When that tree has flowers, it's filled with so many bees you can hear it buzzing from the road about 300m away.

    Now silence.

I haven't seen a bee around where I live in over a year. And I'm outside a lot in the spring and summer. Usually I get a few buzzing over me when I'm out in my hammock, but I have yet to hear one this year. I'm hoping they're just "sleeping in" a bit but I fear I already know the truth...
