I guess you didn’t really read. Just pointing out that you need to do more than kill the puppetmaster to replace all those who he either trained or who learned how to thrive in his absence.
Please. There are hundreds ready to take Putins place. Some politically, but hundreds behind the scenes who also have finger puppets ready for ”power” who can step in for both Medvedev and Putin. The rest of the dog kennel (like Lavrov) will keep barking for their masters sake.
Many migrants have drowned en route to the UK, so if the boats are caught before they leave the shore it's not as if the police are condemning the migrants to death. Some police forces have denied migrant boats or even ruined them on the Mediterranean, causing more direct deaths. Or died in migrant camps just outside the borders of the EU.
What is at fault here is the geopolitical perspective. People are fleeing extreme poverty, injustice, war, genocide etc etc. The border agreements of the EU mean that they get sent back to whatever country they were first "discovered" in, which in its turn sends them back further. Many have lost everything coming here, even loved ones, children perished en route. Many were maybe aiming for Germany, France, Denmark or Sweden. But as they've been detected in other countries in the EU first, they will be sent back to those first. So as a last ditch attempt, they aim for the UK. And if they didn't drown in the Mediterranean, there is a huge risk that they might drown in the colder waters of the Channel instead.
This being said, slashing their last (perceived) hope or reaching safety is cruel. But there are few things that are NOT cruel towards most migrants, sadly.
Ultra short holiday. I get seven weeks paid, usually take four off in a row nowadays and spread the rest around Christmas or whenever I feel I need to rest up from work.
The difference in approach between the EU and the US is stark. One is evidence based; the other is tied to opinions of talking heads on a television network that styles itself as a comedy channel.
Is ”wake up sheeple!” conspiracy rearing its ugly head again?
Hardly sleepwalking, rather waking up to the fact that we’re no longer strong alone. Would wish for a world without borders, nations or federalism. But naivety in this age gets us swallowed up by bigger fish.
Framing these concerns as NIMBY-ism against green tech is misleading and deceptive. There are legitimate concerns about Chinese investments in European projects, and rightful criticism from the EU of how the governments of Slovakia and Hungary are going against their people’s best interests in order to be more friendly towards Russian and Chinese interests.
