  • Ah, so it won't be covered by the Leahy law that USAID reported as being breached and the US should stop sending military aid to Israel because of that.

  • I don't know if we've read the same article because it reads as fear mongering defensive improvements with the tone that it's for offensive use.

China’s nuclear missiles can already reach any city in the United States. Now, satellite images reviewed by Reuters show Beijing is building a sprawling web of launch pads, bunkers and communications nodes near the isolated nuclear silos that hold the Chinese military’s longest-range missiles.

China’s nuclear build-up is among the most scrutinized facets of President Xi Jinping’s military modernization because of what some foreign diplomats describe as Beijing’s lack of transparency and failed efforts by the United States to engage the Chinese leadership on its evolving nuclear capabilities and intentions.

But some senior Western diplomats and analysts say China would possibly resort to nuclear coercion to limit outside involvement in a conflict over Taiwan.

The scale of what is emerging in China’s northwestern desert has left even seasoned analysts startled.

  • They want absolutely zero condemnation and will throw a hissy fit like the self-entitled little ethno fascists that they are

  • Is Reuters saying that it's a bad thing for a country to protect it's nuclear silos so bad actors don't blow them up? What's so nefarious about a country protecting nuclear silos?

I think it's more telling that they feel the need to do it because it seems that the US and Israel haven't shied away from hitting nuclear facilities (aka war crimes).

  • I still can't believe the complete silence by the global journalism community on how many journalists have been murdered.

I'm already disillusioned by how biased and influenced mainstream media is and even this has been shocking to me. The fact that they can't even come out to object the murder of others in their industry during a genocide should disillusion so many.

  • I mean that's fair. Though he can't know if the trust sold off the stocks. But then again, we have no idea who the trust is (a friend maybe?), if he gave instructions before hand, etc.

Safe to say though - if he invested in palantir, the trust wouldn't sell it because it financially makes sense to hold, and therefore Mark can continue making federal investments with that in mind.

  • Aren't these things that he's divested from in 2025 in line with the Conflict of Interest Act though?

    From the document:

APPENDIX TO THE SUMMARY STATEMENT OF THE RIGHT HONOURABLE MARK J. CARNEY, PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA

Divestment of the following in a blind trust established pursuant to section 27 of the Ac

  • We’re dealing with states that have murdered Canadian citizens, that have harassed Canadian citizens, states that have stolen some of our top intellectual property,” Matthews said.

    So Israel too?

  • To your 1st point, I don't know if Jesse Brown hasn't had an opinion, he's very much a Zionist and recently attended an event with Ben Shapiro headlining with the title of "defending against anti-zionism" (or something stupid like that).

Freeland has been very much against BDS during her tenure, repeatedly defended Israel during it's genocide, and has always "affirmed Canada's strong support" towards Israel even when they committed war crimes (a UN judgement) during the 2019 peaceful march of return where Israel was sniping medics (among many other atrocities).

    Here's a more in depth summary: https://yvesengler.com/2025/01/20/freeland-must-pay-political-price-for-support-of-israel/

  • You're right, basque police should also be hated on. They have very close ties to Israel, buy a lot of their equipment from them, and get training from the IDF.

But basque police didn't beat Canadians.

  • Some of the most unhinged cunts supporting the fascist regime there are Americans from varying backgrounds (mike Huckabee, Biden, trump, etc.). You can do better than spreading hateful antisemitic tropes that don't help anyone.

  • Truly! The highly tailored 24 hours news cycle of hyper sensationalism is atrocious.

And so happy that you volunteer for rehabilitation! The animals always need allies. I'm now following Superbowl! :)

  • Aaannndd...? What is Canada going to do as a response?

  • Ah yes, more ethnic cleansing because "hey, they're all Arab anyways". Some of the most racist shit I've seen today.

  • I think the key term being used is "mercenary" though

  • "I'm inserting myself into this thread of a topic that I don't care about and don't want to be a part of!!"

Are you Meghan and Harry in a trench coat? An energy vampire? Do you need a hug?

  • Tim Hortons does not control it's affiliates and franchisees hiring practices.

And it's those who are speed running the TFW program because they're getting paid by the applicants.

This is Tim Hortons' response to Dunkin Donuts opening up shop to try and appeal to their Canadian roots.

  • Mercenaries are definitely not all professionals - who do you think are the boots on the ground for all the proxy wars happening today?

Turkey and Russia were flying out Syrian mercenaries to north Africa to fight each other over Libya.

It's extensively published in military research papers that guns for hire (mercenaries) are becoming much more ubiquitous in today's proxy wars.

  • "These IDF soldiers are simply here to protect the prayer groups. Please don't antagonize the soldiers or prayer groups by simply existing, they might feel threatened"
