  • This issue is a perfect example why the civil war in Myanmar is not a black and white issue. Forced and mandatory military service has been the primary recruitment tool of the guerilla groups formed before 2021 coup for decades. PDFs and perhaps AA are the only true voluntary guerilla forces in Myanmar.

    Your post shows a lot of errors and erroneous logic. Pol Pot wasn't "Buddhist" Pol Pot was a communist. Conflating conflicts in Sri Lanka to the conflict in Myanmar into a "violence in Buddhist regions around the world" is a logical fallacy, and intellectually stupid as can be. A brief look at your post history shows your interest in colouring every conflict into a religious one is rather disturbing.

  • Good point! I didn't know these existed. It's a relatively new propeller aircraft and looks like one of the WW2 fighters. In use in many countries including Philippines.

  • So I've noticed that in Southeast Asia they were still using propeller aircraft for jungle and mountain guerilla warfare until maybe 10 years ago despite having jets in their airforces. I think jets might fly too fast to find the guerillas in the jungle canopy and helicopters might fly too low and be in the range of guerilla guns I think? Myanmar Junta has lost a lot of helicopters the last 4 years to guerillas who have little more than home-made guns. When they use jets for bombing they typically use the smallest slowest jets. Props and paragliders are way cheaper, and might have higher payloads than drones.

  • There has been genocide and ethnic cleansing going on in Bangladesh for many decades carried out by the military and Bengali settlers against minorities who live in the hills. The minorities are tibeto-burman tribes completely un-related to Bengalis who are majority in Bangladesh. There has been sporadic attacks and massacres of these minority people have been going on in Bangladesh even in recent years that has not caught international attention. The people in this particular case are "Marama" or "Marma" or ethnic Arakanese people who live in Bangladesh.
