  • Yeah ... I have no idea how they came up with such a figure.

5-7k a year? If you need an engine or transmission replacement every year, maybe. Or if you have an expensive-to-maintain import (like OOP's bimmer) and you take it to a specialist mechanic every time it has the slightest hiccup.

But for 5-7k a year, you could be entirely replacing the car every year.

  • You knew what you were getting into when you bought a Bimmer instead of a Honda.

  • I love the $1 fine, lol.

And I hope he had the balls to pay that fine with a fake bill.

  • Not sure how they’re going to put a sense of urgency behind that

A sense of urgency is overrated when it comes to a survival and exploration game.

If the entire goal is, 'let's build an awesome base and make this place a permanent home', I think that could be plenty fun.

  • A co-op mode has been a major feature of their trailers and marketing so far. I'd definitely expect that to be one of the biggest new features.

  • on the one hand, that just looks like a graphics upgrade from the first game.

Good. The first game was amazing.

If all they've done is give it a graphics update and a fresh map, I'll be happy as a clam. All I could have ever asked for.

there’s no evidence of the snowfox or the spy pengling in it

Spy Pengling was a little bit annoying to use, but no big deal. Kind of entertaining with the voice lines, maybe.

The Snowfox is entirely optional, lol. And, honestly, it sucks. You can explore all the Snowfox areas far more safely and effectively with a prawn suit instead. Reject Snowfox, return to Prawn. It makes that part of the game so much better.

  • Might actually be the case, lol.

Answer this question correctly (or even intelligently at all) and your application is rejected.

  • Also, you'll want one with a fair bit of power to it if it's going to do any permanent damage.

A typical 'safe' 5mw laser isn't going to do shit, regardless of the color/frequency.

  • I get it, I get her anger, I also get that if we allow this, that our civil society will turn into a shitshow

Member when black folks used to get lynched for false rape claims? I member.

  • You know... At first, I was sad that there might be a new Star Fox game without Krystal in it.

But with models like this, I'm kind of glad Krystal isn't in it. I'd hate to see her done dirty like that.

  • I remember thinking in the early 2000s that more polygons = better graphics

Well, back in the day, games were really held back by their lack of polygons, and a game with more polygons could look significantly better.

In these days, though, we have enough polygons to make things look fantastic, so now it comes down to artistic skill, effort, and taste.

  • The USA do be blowing up boats and murdering their crews on the regular these days...

  • I think the best option is to take two old sailboats (already efficient hulls) and connect them together into a large catamaran with a platform in between them. This greatly increases the possible surface area for solar panels, with a minimum of water resistance added. It allows you to add a large section of solar panels in the middle without anything adding drag in the water in that section.

  • Why would I exclude the disabled?

  • Rooting for the virus to take down civilization.

  • Okay, but … while in some circles, “Linux” does indeed mean just the Linux kernel, it’s often used more casually to refer to the entire operating system and open source ecosystem that make Linux usable on servers, home PCs, and a bunch of other devices.

Sure, strictly speaking, only the kernel is technically “Linux” … but if you have a machine with only the kernel on it and absolutely nothing else, you’re going to have a bad time and that machine won’t be useful for very much.

While only a small portion of their funding goes to the kernel, it seems from looking at their charts that a majority of their funding is going to things that will (at least in theory) help make life better for most people who are running and using the Linux kernel. My only real complaint from looking at those charts is that they’re spending 12% on “AI, ML, Data & Analytics”. Fuck that shit.

  • Name a single big tech company that died in the last 20 years.

None of them entirely die ... they just become hollow shells of their former selves, sold off to another company to use the IP rights. See: Yahoo.
