  • Oh that's my bad for not reading the whole thing lol

  • Edit: I should've tried reading

  • I looked at Fediverse Observer and it seems like LW is not growing as fast as the rest of Lemmy, so people are doing a good job signing up at other instances. Since January it looks like LW gained about 19% MAU, while Lemmy overall gained about 32%.

  • Almost down to 2. The past 24 hours has gone from 2.96 down to 2.14.

Taking 24 hours to bring the queue down by about 20 hours means it's not quite twice as fast as the live data. It's a great improvement but I think this isn't completely solved yet. This could become an issue again possibly if LW doubles in size.

  • They already did, in 0.19.11

Dont render images in private message (#3043)

  • Kinda like https://quiblr.com/understanding_your_private_personalized_feed

But for Peertube instead of Lemmy? Sounds cool, I think Peertube needs it way more than Lemmy does

  • lemmy.ca hosts those frontends themselves, so it's direct to lemmy.ca

it's also possible to use these frontends externally but you don't need to do that

  • Boost, Connect, and Sync also do it well

  • I just noticed this:

As of 0.19.0, Lemmy has a weekly scheduled task to delete activities older than a week. If an instance lags more than 7 days at the time this task executes on the sending instance it will lose activities.

Good thing they never got that far!

  • I don't think he cares lol, he was annoyed about US defaultism so I told him about aussie.zone

  • Finally! I've been trying to get an Australian friend to join aussie.zone... it's so hard to convince people ๐Ÿ˜ญ

  • I've tried to get GamesDoneQuick to at least bridge their Bluesky account to Mastodon, but no luck

They took forever just to make their Bluesky account as an alternative to their Twitter

  • payment

    lol

sorry, but there's not much money being passed around here...

  • I think writing these things may not be as easy as it seems, or the good writers just aren't volunteering. Anyone is welcome to take a shot at it as the docs are open source on Github, make some pull requests!

But you're right, motivated users will make it work. People who are just pretending to take a moral stand against Reddit will continue to complain and think up new excuses and questions without ever moving
