Same great Dharma, new Fediverse packaging!

Check out DharmaCurious.org for ramblings on philosophy and the occasional creative writing project!

  • Add into this people who love pits and own them, but also believe they will "turn," and so constantly give their dogs subtle cues to be on edge, stressed, and like something is wrong. They're no more prone to dangerous actions than any other breed, they're just very, very intelligent dogs that learn how to react to their surroundings. The myth of the aggressive pit is what causes the aggressive pit. We need real education on dogs in general, because that Labrador you love or the poodle who was your best friend when you were a kid is just as capable of snapping or "turning." All dogs can bite, and all breeds can be sweet and well behaved.

  • I started using Linux in 2008. A friend of mine on an old forum showed me wubi and helped me get set up. When he went AWOL and stopped posting, I went on some Ubuntu forum and asked for help with a problem I was having (WiFi had stopped working randomly). Those people tore me apart and spit on my bloodied corpse. It was brutal. Apparently, I was a disgusting moron for using wubi instead of replacing windows (on my netbook with no disc drive) entirely. It was insane. I've since discovered that I'd just found a particularly toxic group by chance, and that most of the community is actually very kind. But at the time, it was genuinely hurtful. I not only stopped asking for help for a long time, I stopped learning about Linux and computers in general because I felt like it was something I'd never understand, I was clearly too stupid to get it.

  • Sweet! Thanks for the reco!

  • This would make an excellent recurring story on American dad wherein Jeff is secretly a Superman à la quailman from Doug.

  • It might be, it knows about me and his brother. :/

  • I like your idea better. That way, it's the whole mall that is relatively safe. New plan, turn AC way low, find one of those amazing massage chairs, drag it to the movie theater, cast Netflix to the big ass screen and watch movies all night.

  • Take some warm clothes, hang out in a walk in fridge at the the food court. Easiest however much they're paying me for this I've ever made.

  • Having lived in Florida, I can assure it, it's completely unreal.

  • Thank you!

  • How do you do this? I've seen it for years, but never thought to ask before. Lol.

  • awwww

  • Oh yeah, gotta keep it dolphin-with-a-brazilian smooth. The trick is to skip the shaving, waxing and Nair style stuff. Just use a Zippo and burn the hairs off. Baby smooth in no time.

  • It's less "everyone gets in" and more that finite crimes do not deserve infinite punishment. Universalists tend to believe that we will, with few if any exceptions, all be reunified with God. Immortal souls being punished endlessly is less than a loving concept, when any sins/crimes they committed were by nature not infinite or endless themselves. Advaita vedanta has a similar concept, as well as other branches of Hinduism such as kashmiri shaivism. Lots of religions have a concept of universal salvation or reconciliation.

  • Hello fellow universalist!

  • That's assuming that for right now. What if it went on for another billion years or so. What of all the humans descendants?

  • I never read them when I was super young, so I'm mostly well adjusted. Haha. First time was when I was 16, got stoned at a buddy's place and the power went out. He took a nap, and I read Visser. Lemme tell you, that's one helluvan introduction to the series.

  • Okay, after reading the comments I have determined that this is a magic pocket dimension, not a sci-fi pocket dimension. That's important. Sci-fi pocket dimension gas too many restrictions, but OP has been kind enough to gift us a magic pocket dimension. If I pop in on a flight, I don't fall to my death when I leave.

So, I set it up as a space for living in tight quarters. Like an RV, I guess. I make sure it has some exercise equipment, and I give it to my mom to use. She's disabled, and can't move a lot under normal conditions, and for reasons I won't go into, also can't do aqua therapy anymore. Low g exercise could help her, and we could slowly increase the gravity. Eventually, she could be healthy enough for surgeries that could get her to a better standard of life.

Book cheap flights, cruises, et cetera. Teleport into the room, and back out at the end. Travel the world. If possible, teleport my mom in whenever somewhere is not wheelchair accessible, and then back out once we've passed that point.

Make money to support the travel lifestyle by being a magician, or smuggler. Whenever possible use the pocket dimension to help people escape bad situations. Teleport in someone while in my car, drive to safety, teleport out. They're coming out relative to the vehicle, not the vehicle's position. Excellent for helping refugees, domestic violence victims, et cetera.

  • I was on an animorph forum for years past the age those books were aimed at, and some of my best friends were made there. That book series shaped me a lot, and it absolutely went as hell sometimes. Marco, man, whoo... The shit Marco went through.

  • I'm not a power user or anything, and don't understand most of the things in computing. I'm a basic user with mostly basic needs. But the only thing that ever gets me back on windows is when my college requires a program specific to a class. Linux is just freaking better, even at the very basic, mostly doing browser based shit level.

  • I'm not a monster, of course i take cream in my coffee ;)

  • This is why i exclusively eat baker's chocolate, and I chew my coffee grounds. I'm not trying to dilute my precious foodstuffs with disgusting things like water or sugar.
