I was the victim of a car crash because some selfish asshole did not respect the red light.
I understand your frustration. I really do. Nobody likes to get tickets. But I think it's better for everyone to ensure people respect driving rules. Driving isn't a game. It requires discipline and focus. Red light cameras are a fine on those who don't pay enough attention / break the law.
Now that this has come to light, surely the law will be followed and the will be consequences!
The issue is that many american prosecutors are absolute cowards.
In other countries, some prosecutors actually do their job. The headquarters of the ruling Spanish Political party was just raided by prosecutors and the police.
Why do US prosecutors refuse to do their job? You break the law. You get criminally prosecuted. It's not that hard.
Sorry!! I thought it could also belong here
I'm a strong believer in non-profit news. I regularly donate money to The Guardian because it's a great non-profit newspaper.
https://www.theguardian.com/about
Many for profit news organizations are absolute garbage. But please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Not all for-profit news organizations are clickbait propaganda. It depends on their business model and their owner.
The New Yorker depends on subscriptions. They employ some of the best writers in the english speaking world.
The Information depends on subscriptions. It's (very) expensive but they have the best coverage of Silicon Valley.
Rupert Murdoch owns the New York Post, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal. In Britain, he owns The Sun. In Australia, he owns 90% of newspapers and Sky News Australia.
He uses his media empire to push his own political views. He encouraged Tony Blair to invade Irak. His newspaper The Sun encouraged British people to leave the European Union by claiming the Queen supported Brexit:
Rupert Murdoch has been publically accused by several world leaders of attempting to blackmail them.
John Major, former British Prime Minister:

Gordon Brown, former British Prime Minister:
Malcom Turnbull, former Australia Prime Minister:
Kevin Rudd, former Australia Prime Minister:
Rupert Murdoch is a real bastard. He was regularly invited by Ronald Reagan to the White House. He came with his lawyer, Roy Cohn.
He is so powerful because there are millions of people who swallow the crap from his media.
Donald Trump praises him.
“Rupert Murdoch is in a class by himself, he’s an amazing guy” President Trump said of the conservative media magnate, who sat smiling in the Oval Office this week
Without identifying anyone by name, Roberts clearly referenced Republican President Donald Trump and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of New York when he said he has felt compelled to issue public rebukes of figures in both parties in recent years.
This is just absurd.
Senator Schumer criticized the Supreme Court after ProPublica investigations showed they took secret luxury trips with Billionaires:

Some Billionaires even bought property for Clarence Thomas:

Trump repeatedly attacked a U.S Federal Judge, calling him a Mexican:

Last march, after a Judge ruled against him, President Trump called him a crook who should be impeached:
Trump and Schumer are not remotely comparable. .
As a non-Brit, I watch what's happening like it's a slow motion car wreck.
France has 2 round parliamentary elections.
- First round: You vote for someone to represent your constituency. Only 2 candidates remain.
- Second round: Two weeks later, it's the second round. You vote for one of the 2 candidates that won the first round. The winner becomes an MP.
Throughout France, Marine Lepen candidates won 35% to 40% of the votes in the first round. They qualified for the second round. Luckily, in the second round, citizens rallied against Lepen candidates, voting for whoever was their opponent.
What will happen if Nigel Farage gets 35% or 40% 😲? You don't have a second round...
If France used the FPTP voting system, Marine Lepen would be ruling the country with a huge majority in Parliament.
Portland is facing a major housing crisis that was decades in the making.
Thanks to this recent reform, more people can now afford a roof over their head.
The woman in the video said she was very happy. She didn't complain about parking. Parking is a luxury when people want a roof over their head. Some of these comments are just insane.
Since when Iran has any terrorists in the united state and canada?
Are you serious...?
Canadian Intelligence foiled an Iranian attempt to assassinate a former minister:
According to a source, the RCMP on Oct. 26 informed Mr. Cotler, a former Liberal justice minister, that he faced imminent threat of assassination within 48 hours from Iranian agents.
The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) told him that he was a high-profile target of Iran. The close protection provided to Mr. Cotler includes bulletproof vehicles, heavily armed officers and other security measures.
Iranians agents tried to kidnap a woman in New York City:

Iranians agents tried to blow up the Saudi Ambassador to the United States:

Adding parking was previously mandatory.
If you tried to build a Childcare Center or an Affordable Housing building without parking, the city of Lynnwood refused to deliver the building permit.
As part of her climate change plan, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo is pedestrianizing streets, building bike lanes, and planting trees. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions, reduce traffic noise and make the city more able to resist heat.
She has been very aggressive and upset some car drivers. But the results are starting to pay off.
Controversial opinion: This is actually a very good thing.
If you get your news from professional news organizations (PBS, CBC, BBC, ProPublica, Reuters, NYT, The Guardian) you are now in the minority.
Most people now get their news from entertainers and social media:
Donald Trump said migrants in Springield, Ohio are eating cats and dogs.
Springfield police said there was no evidence. Professional news organizations sent reporters and said there was no evidence. It didn't matter. Entertainers and social media figures claimed it's true. Many people genuinely believed Trump.
There is a reason why many members of Congress privately say they fear criticizing Elon Musk:
Even if he does not spend a dime against them, Mr. Musk could use his megaphone to target them
Interviews with more than half a dozen House Republicans revealed a widespread wariness of crossing Mr. Musk.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/04/us/politics/musk-house-republicans-trump.html
He can take them down by changing what their constituents see on their X feed.-
In a scathing dissent, Justice Jackson says the Supreme Court gives the impression it favors 'moneyed interests'
It's not an impression. It's a fact.
The newsroom ProPublica found that for several years, Clarence Thomas was paid by a group of Billionaires:
https://www.propublica.org/article/clarence-thomas-scotus-undisclosed-luxury-travel-gifts-crow
In June, the newsroom ProPublica reported that Justice Samuel Alito accepted flights on billionaire Paul Singer’s private jet right before the Supreme Court ruled on a court case involving Paul Singer’s hedge fund
https://www.propublica.org/article/samuel-alito-luxury-fishing-trip-paul-singer-scotus-supreme-court
Billionaire Paul Singer is a close friend of Billionaire Rupert Murdoch who owns Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.
Here is Rupert Murdoch hugging Donald Trump:
To quote Donald Trump:
“Rupert Murdoch is in a class by himself, he’s an amazing guy,” President Trump said
https://thehill.com/media/5133600-trump-murdoch-relation/
So the Wall Street Journal naturally allowed Samuel Alito to violently attack ProPublica journalists:
The top editor of the Wall Street Journal published a piece attacking ProPublica:
ProPublica didn't mislead anyone. Their piece just won the Pullitzer Prize for Investigative Journalism.
The Wall Street Journal isn't exactly a neutral source of information.
In fact, CBS News once described it's owner Rupert Murdoch as a "friend of Clarence Thomas"
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/movie-on-clarence-thomas-dropped/
The US is dominated a small group of businessmen who are coordinating together to influence courts. It's a conspiracy, but it's not exactly a theory. The evidence is literally all over the place. It's happening in plain sight.
But most people aren't paying attention 😔
