  • Slightly pulling the pillow can work if the person isn’t a horrible chronic snorer. Making a person move their head while sleeping will often make them adjust their whole body readjusting their airway and that can both help them sleep better and snore less but it only works on light to moderate snoring, people who are super loud when they sleep probably have something going on that isn’t just position of sleep.

  • It’s so good, even if you know very little about the field watching it over time you get context and learn who did and said what and they do such a good job at explaining. It feels educational and entertaining

  • The examples listed are wayyy more obscure than schizophrenia also this hot take

Some researchers have suggested that both premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and the more severe premenstrual dysphoric disorder(PMDD), which have currently unknown physical mechanisms,[27][28] are Western culture-bound syndromes.[29][30] However, this is controversial.[29][31]

In the middle of a bunch of ultra niche examples

    Idk something feels off

  • I love it

I’m a woman, I’ve noticed that while Lemmy is better than some spaces it’s very male centric in very stereotypical ways, I love your stuff I think it’s great for exactly the reason it triggers them - the point isn’t that men are getting triggered, the point is that my perspective is being validated too!

    Keep it up

  • If you actually mean celebrated a non abusive parents death yeah that’s wrong, that’s psycho level stuff.

If you mean more like feels relieved by I think that’s way more of a gray area.

I still think it’s bizarre to not visit them regardless especially if they didn’t do anything bad towards you but feeling relief over a death of a loved one isn’t inherently problematic.

  • I’m a petite woman and I feel like as long as he wasn’t able to sit on me/fall on me if absolutely be able to, I would like to request a cane however so I could whoop him founding fathers style

  • I mean it will that’s why having no middle class is bad for business

  • My question is, how does this get child support to the kid? I guess the parent can’t flee abroad but is that an inherent risk of parents owning 2500 bucks? This isn’t a solution to the problem at hand

  • Even cheap Amazon and ikea ones have them I don’t know how you managed to buy tie-less duvets

  • That’s why you tie them in at the corners…

  • I mean what can you do? Look out for yourself, your loved ones and neighbors when prices skyrocket and we lose default currency status. Stock up on food and supplies while you can still afford them. Hunker down for the long haul and try to build support networks before the bottom falls out. People who have social support will inherently be better off. As far as what we can do to address this political threat… it might be a case of throw everything we have at it and see what sticks but that will absolutely involve a lot of things people find distasteful like riots, violence, likely people being murdered by police, possible mass incarcerations… apathy is our biggest existential threat right now, the cost is high and the desire/ability to pay is low, people still think they have so much to lose and don’t realize they’re already on the knife’s edge

  • His powers are so weird, and they seem to come with an inherent existential depression. He’s super powerful yes, but if your powers feel basically unusable to you and don’t serve your values or morals I think you just end up living alone on mars no matter what

  • I’m professor X now, let’s gooooo

  • I don’t fully trust this - the problems it lists mostly existed prior to common core and speak about education in a very idealized way. As if if we were not using common core these wouldn’t be issues but they very much were prior to common core, teaching flexibility seems to be touched on a lot and that hasn’t been a thing since standardized testing was introduced and most of these changes occurred then, the shifting away from concepts to focus on skills, homogenous learning, inflexibility etc. Strict educational norms are traditional, not new. I do think the point about focusing on fiction writing versus nonfiction is valid enough but that’s also fairly arbitrary since the courses the students take would actually be the deciding factor there. The criticism about it being a “top down” solution is just how education works in a bureaucracy, standards for curriculum will be set that’s just how it works.

I don’t think common core is perfect and I especially take issue with any form of teaching that strays from phonics when it comes to reading specifically but it’s not any more problematic than the systems that came before it and the only way to avoid these issues really is to tailor education to each individual student, which is how we should be spending our money to be clear we simply don’t live in that world right now.

I don’t actually know if the issues being attributed to CC stem from it directly or if this is simply a new leaf on our very broken educational system tree.

  • He’s as good as dead. Pneumonia at his age is already incredibly dangerous but his lifestyle basically guarantees he won’t be making a comeback. Anytime a person over 75 is diagnosed with “pneumonia” the grim reaper is already in the room with them, it’s only a matter of time

  • Probably Olaplex, so basically

  • I can vouch, it’s good stuff, smells good too. I use their cleaning products mostly but stocked my families bug out bags with the hygiene products after trying them out.

  • With fine hair this is especially true omg if a cheap “moisturizing” shampoo even looks at my hair I turn into a greasy puddle
