  • Does Lemmy not do invite only subs/private subs? Like, could you just make the one you want?

  • Would

  • Lots of voluntary overtime when the demand is there.

  • This is what they have been trying, but politically they have not been able to. No doubt with US influence. They like us like this when they got us by the balls with Cushing our only customer and our industrial heartland dependent on them.

  • I have many. 4 Rpi4 with PiOS, Riopeee, Moode, an HTPC with mint, a laptop with mint, a gaming PC with Bazite, another laptop with arch and an old PC with Debian stable.

My favourites are Bazite and Mint.

  • Sounds dangerous.

  • The issue is integration with the US and as much as I hate fossil fuels and want us all off asap, until we don't need it, we are at a strategic risk because we can't independently power ourselves coast to coast. Why canada imports oil at all should be viewed as a problem after the middle east trouble.

    https://www.cer-rec.gc.ca/en/data-analysis/energy-markets/market-snapshots/2024/market-snapshot-crude-oil-imports-rose-slightly-2023-first-time-since-2019.html

Even Quebec, who have the easiest time fully electrifying still have massive fossil fuel consumption. If they aren't ready, no one else is even close.

Canada has to amp up full electrictrification efforts, but that will take decades. In the mean time we need to protect our energy supplies for domestic consumption and diversify our customer base for exports.

Edit: This also includes supporting europe's strategic needs. The must get off fossil fuels. Until they do, they need to stop being a customer of Russia.

  • Count me in this bracket. A progressive income tax should prevent billionaires in the first place, and for less controllable things like an IPO a wealth tax will do the rest.

  • I had to plug in ethernet to the wifi drivers updated. Map a nas drive with the correct invocation in /etc/fstab. Getting camilladsp to work in multichannel 5.1 setup, getting my fricken nvidia drivers working, getting star citizen to work (still doesn't), getting roon to work in bottles, adding the right repos even for various software.

Linux has come a long way. It is mostly consumer grade now, but still has some refinement.

  • Wow! What is that like?

  • Any special prep?

  • Don't fight it. If it feels good, do it.

  • Not my experience.

  • /c/oddlyspecific/wtf

  • Uh. No. I have 2 mint boxes. 1 bazzite one debian and one arch.. heh.

  • I like Mint. Got two boxes. 1 bazzite, one Debian and one Arch for shitz and giggles.

  • They are supreme examples of a few things....

  • Basic install yes, getting all your favourite apps and network connectivity...well, it's much better than before, but still a short term pain.

  • Respectfully disagree. Supreme "Court" should be the journalistic standard worldwide. They don't practice law there anymore, if ever. Court is not a descriptor, it's a brand.
