  • And yet when Netflix was good the amount of people who pirated went down a ton. I was on that train. Just give me a service that isn't outrageously expensive, has most of the content i want, and is more convenient than pirating and I'll do it, as long as i have an income.

  • Not everything needs to have deep/real-world meaning. As i recall, Tolkien really didn't like people ascribing such things to his writing. They're just stories and should be treated as such.

  • 100% agreed. It just reeks of mods thinking they own and know what's best for the community, further exacerbated by comments like this one. They think they are the community, or at least are the reason it thrives.

  • I asked her about it, and she said that she won't hijack the community from the existing team, but she'd be willing to point people to a community made alternative if it spins up. Not necessarily the decision i would have made, but i understand and respect it.

  • Idk man, have you done the math on whether the universe expands yourself? Because i haven't. I simply believe that the scientists who have aren't lying to me, same as I believe that Jupiter is in fact a giant sphere of gas, because that's what I've been told.

No one can verify all of science, so we must all trust that those who came before us got things right (unless we discover that they didn't ofc).

    Therefore, i believe in science.

  • Iirc, the problem with desalination is that it doesn't actually produce salt, just a very salty water slurry. So for them to produce usable salt they'd have to dry it out or something. Not that that sounds like it would be particularly difficult, but it's an extra step.

  • Gandalf wouldn't even still be there, since he was only there to aid in the fight against Sauron. He'd have gone off to Valinor shortly after Sauron's defeat, together with the rest of the elves. And there'd be no Aragorn to be a good pal and extend the good lifespans of the realms of Men, so Gondor would never get a new king and the realms of Men would likely fall to evil a bit into the third age.
