  • Its been a big news in my personal life fr, i may be able to convince friends to come round and watch it with me

  • As said in the other thread, this is 100% a bragpost

  • Not to brag post but i found this Napoleon BFI bluray restoration special edition boxset in a charity shop for £3.99

  • That's our favourite large adult failson

  • Incredibly, incredibly online person who literally just gloms onto whatever.

  • Yeah tbh, everytime ive made the mistake of eating one on a night out or something ive ended up puking it up by the end. I've completely sworn off them now.

  • We need fight club for skinny fat twinks to whip them into shape

  • been trying out heterosexuality lately, mainly as an aesthetic choice, will probably get bored of it soon

  • Thanks for your input, tbh i was mainly just on this line of thought bcs of Peter Jackson taking inspiration from it and wondering if the reason he'd referenced it visually so many times was that potentially tolkien had also been more loosely inspired by it, or if Jackson just liked how the stories happened to similarly line up.

  • thanks for all the reccomendations o7, I posted somewhere else here in the mega about watching alexander nevsky and seeing a load of design inspirations and shots that the Peter Jackson films used for the rohirrim but i was wondering if it was a possibility that the film actually inspired tolkien too since it came out just as he was starting to write lotr and has a lot of similar plot points (kingdom under threat for foreign invaders, rulers deny its happening because they're doing well from foreign trade and dont want to upset the balance, a foreign king comes, shakes them out of their delusion and helps lead them to victory against the marauding neighbour, also a woman dresses as a man to go to battle with all the men, there might be a few other similarities too)

  • @BattleshipPokemon, also in my 20s and living in London, says: "About them hitting energy infrastructure, using an atomic bomb, or levelling Britain. My honest reaction is that I'm OK with all of these."

  • I've been thinking this

  • Have been searching this up, people note certain similarities online but i noticed way more parallels than i see anyone online talking about. Like more than a dozen exact remakes of shots throughout the film + overarching design themes every time the rohirrim are involved.

  • Mostly young zoomer men feeling alienated by a meaningless world thats utterly ugly and hostile and lowkey despises them converting to catholicism to feel loved and also use it as a cover for increasingly right wing political views

  • Its britslop copaganda but the captures lowkey pretty fun

  • @ all lotr fans, where can i read about tolkiens inspirations for various plot points and places

  • Will write up a thread on possible inspiration of Peter Jackson's lotr trilogy from Alexander Nevsky in a couple of days
