  • Try to somehow fix it in place, shim it for example. See if that works for now. When you got the printer printing at least a little, print a replacement part.

  • Exactly… Qualcomm and open source are two things that I usually don’t see in the same sentence

  • +1 for fiber. Also because there are really thin fiber cables available (like <1mm in diameter) and with a bidirectional transceiver you can literally run a cable in the corner of two walls and hide it with just some acrylic compound and paint.

  • There are currently talks about tightening these regulations, to the point where it is no longer feasible to use these kind of systems :(

  • There is also POE over two unshielded copper wires.

  • Spoiler: it does not.

  • If you lose connection, I would imagine that the connection to these servers would not be established and therefore no authentication information would be send, no?

  • Tut mir leid, aber auf dieser Stammtischparolen-Ebene diskutiere ich nicht mit dir.

  • I bought a HPE microserver gen10 plus and installed unraid on it, works perfectly. Truenas would also be an option.

It has 4 drive bays, 4 1 gig Ethernet ports and 1 pciex16

  • 27 mm-wide paper roll

That’s a small roll of paper.

  • Because it is easy and cheap. You can buy inkjet cartridges which include the printhead. These are the hardest parts.

Now you „only“ need a motion system.

For a laser printer you need much more complex parts.

I guess if this project takes off they will start looking into Laser printers.

  • Du machst es dir ganz schön einfach. „Die anderen müssen was tun, aber ich nicht. Und jeder der etwas anderes behauptet ist ein Idiot.“

    Stark.

  • Yes a lot has changed in the last 2 years alone.

  • What? My brother as an engineer spent almost a whole year job hunting in Germany. The current market is bad, with the car manufacturers (and their supply chain) kicking Out people left and right.

It is currently very difficult to find good engineering jobs in Germany.

  • I actually bought unraid before it became a subscription. And I must say, i really like it.

I am currently looking into Proxmox to build a small cluster to prevent critical services from becoming unavailable whenever I do stupid things… but… compared to unraid the learning curve and ease of use is much more brutal.

  • They do have lossless audio now, like since a few weeks.

Anyway, normal speakers don’t go above or below human audible frequencies.

  • They are not a product testing facility. There are norms and guidelines how these cells should look like and how they should be manufactured.

They are showing that these cells are not up to spec.

  • Did you read the article? It explains it.

The anodes inside each cells should protrude over the cathodes, so that there will not be a short in case something moves unexpectedly (like vibration, etc).

The cells they have issues with don’t have consistent overhang, sometimes the cathodes protrude. Which could cause a short.

Under normal circumstances they will operate just fine, but they are not as safe as properly manufactured cells.

By the way, omitting safety features usually does not affect normal operation. But safety features are there to protect you in case something goes wrong. Like a seat belt or airbags.
