  • It also weakens your sense of cause and effect, being drunk makes it harder to link consequences to actions. I've done things that really hurt people while drunk and even while still wasted instantly felt bad cause they got hurt. I definitely wanted to punch my friend for pouring booze on the floor but I definitely didn't want to crack his rib.

  • True to an extent but there's also a level of brain damage that can come with long term alcoholism (or extreme intoxication) where they lose the ability to form coherent thoughts while plastered and their drunk ramblings can be contradictory.

  • Definitely also want to throw up on your shoes, working up the courage now

  • I am a Leftist and agree with the Leftists take but the Liberal in this meme has a more effective message. The majority of people have issues neurologically with truly caring about things they can't at least imagine affecting them and there are a huge number of people working their asses off 40+ hours a week while struggling to get by. Not that we should abandon the elderly or disabled but we should be diverse in our messaging and who it targets.

  • 25mpg is about 40 kph. 50 is moderately faster.

  • At least were I live, people take their driving test on streets were the speed limit is 25mph. Should surprise no one that people suck at driving on highways and freeways.

  • They're super easy to start here

  • Reddit tracks things like the hardware associated with an account so you'd need a new IP and new phone/computer and email adress.

  • "The mobile infantry made me who I am today" reveals his two amputated legs

  • It's complicated by the fact that while the film is satirical, the book is not. And some critics criticized the skill by which the satire was made "Some critics, such as Roger Ebert and Owen Gleiberman, recognized the satire,[139][140][141] but often found that this commentary was indistinguishable from the promotion of the fascist utopia it was satirizing." (Wikipedia)

  • I'm surprised they even looked. I've never cared about getting subreddit banned but was always careful to avoid a sitewide ban. Not one of my appeals was ever upheld.

  • They could make it optional to each seperate instance in the Fediverse. I could see it being popular on Lemmy for the Dopamine hit. Less so on some of the more focused or political instances.

  • I don't think there's anywhere online where Marxists with arguments can't find you

  • Be the change you wanna see. They set this up to be as user driven as possible. You can start communities, discussions, all of it. I started a Zombie community to have somewhere to discuss my take on season one of Fear the Walking Dead. Not much engagement yet but ya gotta start somewhere. It'll never take off if everyone who isn't permabanned keeps slipping off to reddit.

  • Most of windows products get increasingly worse over time. Security updates aside, I've never understood why the didn't just stop updating things to save themselves the money and save us the hassle.

  • Some people play games and some people live vicariously thru games. And alot of men in the US have been conditioned to expect to be the victims of violence or social ridicule if they're suspected of being gay. I don't agree with their discomfort but I understand why it happens.

  • do public seccurity cameras exist though? In the US, we have cameras watching the movement of cars thru the road network via license plate. It's dystopian

  • I wouldn't advise you to smash cameras but it would make you my hero

  • We need an anti-camera movement in this country
