Hyprland is planning to introduce a premium tier. A move I would definitely support (if I could afford it).

Hyprland has become one of the most sought-after dynamic tiling window compositors on Linux. Its sleek animations, responsive performance, and expansive customization options cater to both power users and new users looking for a minimal desktop experience.
Now, in a turn of events, Hyprland’s lead developer, Vaxry, has been spotted working on a new paid tier that offers additional perks beyond the standard free version.
Not many Linux distributions take such major leaps, especially when things are already working. Nitrux is known for making such major changes, constantly experimenting and exploring new approaches for improving the desktop experience.
Instead of following convention, Nitrux is making good on its tagline: #DisruptiveByDesign. Their latest move is a perfect example. 👇
What's Happening: As of June 10, 2025, Nitrux has officially discontinued support and maintenance for both its custom NX Desktop and the underlying KDE Plasma base. The entire NX Desktop project page has already been archived.
We all have that mental backlog of promising projects — those distros, tools, and systems we keep tabs on but haven't yet deployed. Perhaps you're waiting for that mythical free weekend, lacking a spare/compatible device or just holding out until that one killer feature drops.
FWIW, my 'someday' list includes:
Operating Systems/Distros:
Gentoo – Source-based meta-distribution driven by Portage and USE-flags for near-granular control; binary packages also available if you'd rather skip marathon compile sessions.
Guix System – GNU's functional, declarative distro built with Guile Scheme.
MocaccinoOS – Image-based, container-built distro that originated from Gentoo/Sabayon but now uses the Luet package manager and OTA-like updates.
NixOS – Declarative Linux distribution using the Nix package language.

SSS is a Lisp machine adventure, where the hacking culture is celebrated. Let me help you achieve GNUrvana.
Just released v2.1.29, my Emacs config is now fully modular, and I control Spotify from inside it too with smudge - waybar, rofi, mako improvements - more everforest and light themes love - org mode with proportional fonts now - SSS-atisfying
This custom GNU + Linux setup enhances customization to infinity, encourages the hacking spirit, and offers a superior user experience thanks in part too to REPL (Read Eval Print Loop) and Lisps.
SSS strives to have all things configured via Lisp dialects when possible and convenient, staying accessible to all kinds of users, and allowing for magical things to happen 🪄.
This setup is a result of months of learning about NixOS and tinkering. There is always something more to polish but I'm at a point where I'm actually satisfied.
Wallpaper: VDawg's submission to the Hyprland wallpaper contest
Dotfiles: Unavailable. I haven't migrated some configs to nix yet (most notably hyprland) and I don't manage them with git either. also they're a mess.
Feel free to ask me how I did things, information is difficult to find sometimes, so I'm happy to help
