Announcing Linkwarden for iOS & Android

Hello everyone,

Before we talk about today’s announcement, let's take a moment to appreciate what this community has built together. What started as a project to preserve webpages and articles has quietly grown into Linkwarden, a tool used by researchers, journalists, and knowledge collectors all over the world.

As we’ve grown, the Linkwarden community has helped us reach:

  • 16,000+ GitHub stars
  • 11M+ Docker downloads
  • Thousands of self-hosted instances running in different companies, universities, agencies, and homelabs
  • A thriving ecosystem of contributors, donors, and Cloud subscribers keeping the project sustainable

None of this would've happened without you. Thank you! 🚀

Today, we’re excited to launch something you’ve been asking for since the very beginning: the official Linkwarden mobile app, now available on iOS and **[Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.link

How is Florisboard not popular?

In my search for good keyboard that support AMOLED mode, I found out about FlorisBoard which looks perfect to me. It even supports Halmak Keyboard Layout, which I didn't expect to find at any Android Keyboard.

Which make me ask, How is this keyboard not popular?

Has anyone gotten Shizuku + Blocker to actually do anything?

I came across Shizuku as a root alternative, and while it's been great at freezing apps, I want to disable certain receivers, services, and SDKs from apps.

Blocker is supposed to do this, but even with Shizuku permission, it does nothing when I try to disable any app components.

Does this actually work, or is root required? If root is needed, are there any alternatives that work with Shizuku?

Blorp now supports PieFed on iOS, Android, web, and MacOS

Wow it’s been a crazy month and a half of working on this. This PieFed update was a doozy (mostly due to code debt in decoupling Blorp from Lemmy), but I’m so happy it turned out as well as it did.

Try it yourself!
\ You will need to click the user icon (top right cornet), login or add account, then select a PieFed server

PieFed support is still a little experimental. I’m currently working through some issues with comment loading. But I’ve been using PieFed with Blorp for a couple weeks now, and I love it.

If you decide to check it out, keep the app up to date for latest PieFed bug fixes.

Edit: anyone reading this in the future. The NSFW issue mentioned in the comments has been fixed in v1.9.2.

In a world full of Android smartphones, de-Googled phones remain a rare breed, with most major brands having little incentive to break free from the Google ecosystem. This leaves privacy-conscious users with few out-of-the-box options.

As a result, they often have to take the DIY route, unlocking bootloaders, flashing custom ROMs like GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, etc. Still, between compatibility issues, limited device support, and the complexity of flashing ROMs, the demand for de-Googled phones is growing.

That’s where niche players like Murena step in, who offers sustainable smartphones in collaboration with [Fairphone](https://www.fairphone.com/?ref=news.itsfoss.com

According to the documents, Cellebrite could not unlock any iPhones running iOS 17.4 or newer as of April 2024, labeling them as “In Research.” For iOS versions 17.1 to 17.3.1, the company could unlock the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 series using their “Supersonic BF” (brute force) capability. However, iPhone 12 and newer models running these iOS versions were listed as “Coming soon.”

The Android support matrix showed broader coverage for locked Android devices, though some limitations remained. Notably, Cellebrite could not brute force Google Pixel 6, 7, or 8 devices that had been powered off. The document also specifically mentioned GrapheneOS, a privacy-focused Android variant reportedly gaining popularity among security-conscious users.
