  • Losing RIF was the final straw, glad it prompted me to switchover.

    • Yeah there were a lot of little things before then. It kind of felt like being in an abusive relationship every time you saw an admin post. Glad you made the switch!

  • I'll be honest, I was using the official app. But when a bunch of people jumped ship, I saw how much cooler the new ship was and jumped with them. And I still like this ship.

  • Rif?

    • Originally started as Reddit Is Fun, a mobile app for Reddit. Then Reddit launched their own (shittier) app and forced them to change the name. So they went with RIF Is Fun.

    • To add, RiF is so old that it was originally just called "Reddit". It was around long, long before the official mobile app.

  • I use the RIF logo to hide my sketchy apps visually. You just made me realize that I'm 2 years obsolete.

  • The weird thing is, I was off reddit for years already. It's only because tech news sites reported on the api changes (and boosted the fediverse) that I made the switch. I was doing fine! I didn't need a new reddit!

    • Nah, actually I did because 4chan was my replacement for the interim (-_-メ)

      Glad you survived.

  • Happy cake day everyone! 😘

I first joined feddit.de but it was riddled with issues so I switched to lemmy.world after three weeks. Some time later it croaked anyway.

I still see the day third party apps went offline as the day of my departure and I am happy to see us grow into a friendlier alternative to that shitshow of a website.

  • Hard to believe its been two years, yet in ways it has felt like longer. Feels like a lot of shit has happened in just that short span of time in this little corner of the internet.

  • Dunno about RIF, I've been in threadiverse since Sync for Reddit bit the dust. (Was in Kbin initially.)

    • Sync for Lemmy is ok, but the dev stopped responding about 8 months ago and it's got a bug that makes it completely unusable for many people.

      • Heh, I know. I bought Sync for Reddit originally, and was really conflicted about whether I should buy Sync for Lemmy. Was, like, "what the hell, I'll be supporting the developer."...well I'm glad I never bought the ongoing support things this developer offered! Staunch supporter of open source threadiverse apps these days, as you might imagine.

  • Rif was cool but I left once Joey got shut down. Fixing miss that app
