who? by who?
why? can we just stop making pointless cash grab remakes
give me an xfiles lower decks instead
can we just stop making pointless cash grab remakes
But we're all out of ideas, and we hate paying creative people a living wage.
give me an xfiles lower decks instead
Hmm, does that work when Mulder and Scully were already like the underdogs of the FBI?
Or would it be like X-Files cleanup crew?
Asking "Who?" while using a device connected to the sum of all information publicly available is lazy. I'm not mad at you for being lazy but you seem so committed to being lazy that I can only think it is intentional and therefore worth calling you out. I'm lazy too, most of the time. Game recognize game.
If you had searched Ryan Coogler, you'd have found out his most recent film was an original film (not a remake) that he wrote, directed, and produced. It had very good reviews and outperformed box office expectations. Did you see it? If not, I recommend it. It is called Sinners.
Danielle Deadwyler waa someone I had to look up, but I recognized her. Her last film was The Woman in the Yard, which was ambitious but not really my thing. I guess it was that way for a bunch of viewers. That said, her screen presence was better than most. I would like to see what she can do paired with a talent like Coogler, in X-Files or any other project.
og xfiles is the best, its better not to have a "reimagined" series.
Oooo... two current faves. Nice.
What are they going to do? Half the population believes this shit.
Easy! Just do something so unbelievable that the current President would never do it!
Oh.
Oh no.
Yeah this show is going to suck
Why?
Because they hired a black actress, that's why.
Stop
Remove that down vote, hear me out
I got nothing against black actors, make the entire cast black for all I care. If it's good, I'll watch it.
And therein lies the problem; whenever media companies start including minorities, an extra black person, a gay actor or (oh, worse!) a gay character or (ooohhh my god) a trans actor, you can bet your ass that it's not because they're sincerely try to be inclusive, they just have a shit product and use the minorities to reflect any criticism with "you're just minority phobic!"
Usually it's the writing that is just balls to the wall dumb, lazy, and just plain bad, sometimes it's the acting too. Either way, the show is bad, and if you dare to say so, you'll just end up in the "you hate trans!" camp even though you have nothing at all against trans
Just to clarify, AGAIN, give me a show with only black trans lesbians or whatever and if it's interesting or well written or just plain fun, I'll watch the shit out of it, as I don't care for a second about any of that, I just want good television.
Don't retcon existing characters into something different as that rarely works out (BSG Starbuck being a noticable exception to that, ST Picard's seven of nine being a very good example of that). Want a gay black character? Add one! But write the character well, give them a good back story, and FFS whatever you do, do it for the right reasons, not to cover up your shitty writing
With that in mind, yeah, they cast a black women in place, so I'm not holdingy breath about the new x flies being any good at all. I wish it were different
2 things:
First, there's no indication yet that they're retconning any characters. She was announced as one of the two leads, she wasn't announced as either Mulder or Scully (characters who may not even be in the show).
Second, this really comes across as you assuming she was only cast because she's black. Maybe, I dunno, she was the best audition for the role? Maybe the lead character she's playing is meant to be black to begin with?
I don't know homie I think Ryan Coogler is pretty sincere and he's made a billion dollars for the people who hire him so probably not a cynical as you think
This is a brilliant satire of bad faith arguments.
Well, I'll set my expectations to -1 and wait. I'm not against reboots and remakes, when they are done well.
My only concern is that if the show is done like modern ones, it'll be unwatchable. I don't want to watch 6 episodes and then wait 5 years for 3 more episodes. The original show had over 20 episodes per season, per year.
