You have to give a US corporation your details (Google or Apple) to live and work in the UK.

I mean, I'm not a nationalist; idgaf where the corporation's base of operations is, they're untrustworthy regardless.
I'm just going to buy a dumb phone and tell them to send it to me in the post, like they do in every other place on the planet.

Well, if you go to the app store, to install the app, you'll need either a Google, or apple account. As a normal, non tech warrior civilian.
In doing so, I will have to interact with a US corporation to get my ID on my phone.
