MTA banned alcohol ads 7 years ago, citing health concerns. Now it wants the money.

Not sure how I feel about this. Don't like ads. Don't like beer ads. But I do want transit to get funded.
Advertising makes up only 0.9% of MTA revenues ($173M out of $20.8B in 2024 [pdf]). Every single subway train and subway station plastered in ads, every bus and bus stop, and now also video screens and apparently beer ads, a constant assault on the visual senses where there is not even a place to rest your eyes without terminating on an ad, and it doesn't even make up 1 cent on the dollar for expenses. Something to be aware of.
