Note about the instance name shorthand

I just wanted to mention something that has been bothering me slightly. People keep referring to this instance as "db0" because it's quicker to type, but, well, that's just the username I've been using for the past 20+ years

Can I convince the m@tes to switch to calling it /0 for short if dbzer0 is too long for you?

Feel free to make any other suggestions here.

  • I think it's a non-issue, because from context everyone will know if the instance or you are meant.

Should've maybe called the instance something different entirely if you didn't want that problem :D

  • FYI you forgot to add the GenAI tag

Personally for me, the standard is this

    dbzer0: instance

    db0: you

    /0 [governance]: communities

So I think it would be clashing in that case. Just my opinion.

  • I'll never read /Foo as divide by foo haha. Too much time on the linuxes.

Unfortunately acronyms are a rather ingrained feature of English text communication, and db0 is how that falls out. Not sure you'll win this one.

  • How do we know this isn't a psyop, and secretly db0 accidentally was absorbed by the Horde and is now a sentient representation of dbzer0?

Until now I've let context do the heavy lifting, but will be more mindful of the split as requested.

Ironically I'd avoided using db0 about anything except literally you by name as to try avoiding needlessly pinging you in matrix.

  • I don't see why the name should be different I mean Seinfeld is both the name of a show and the name of a person. I think it's fine the way it is :)
