Well, it bears mentioning that before labor laws were a thing, the way to negotiate labor disputes with the boss used to be “hey boss, me and the boys want a raise, and if you don’t like it we’ll burn the fucking factory down and break your kneecaps”.

Forced strikes, aka when you're fired.
I guess if you're in a union and voted against the strike?
But even then, nothing but their dignity is preventing them from crossing the picket line... Nobody is forcing them to strike.
Yeah you cross a picket line at a union shop and good luck ever seeing a promotion. For that matter could lose your job. (They’d just call it, underperforming issues but they’d wait a couple months before firing you).
Yeah the owners wouldn’t care if you crossed but your immediate supervisor is probably union and pissed that you crossed.
Of course they're coming for the right to strike.
Anyone who was like "taking away the ability to strike is nbd, those rail workers got what they wanted," I don't want to see you acting like this isn't exactly what you want.
And the rail workers got a fraction of what they wanted.
Kinda upset that no one makes a big deal about connecting the rail strikes with the East Palestine incident. Like, the president interferes with a union negotiation, revokes their right to strike in order to "save Christmas," then a major incident occurs three months later because the boss ordered the workers to ignore safety issues while transferring hazardous chemicals. To me, this seems like low hanging fruit to rile up voters and start pushing for change, but it all just... faded away.
Hate the source but it's the only one I could find talking about it after seeing it on socials.
TIL that striking workers could get unemployment. I thought the terms for collecting it were fairly specific.
